Nice ads. That might work. Helmet laws are stupid and pointless in my book. Let the rider decide what to wear on their own. The government is not your mother.

On the other hand, if you make a conscious decision NOT to wear a helmet I don't feel any need to supply you with any taxpayer supplied services in the event of a crash. Think about it- if someone decides to hike to the top of Mt. Rainier wearing sandals and shorts and they freeze to death who is responsible? They are. Not their family, not the government...but the individual who made the choice not to take proper precautions against what could happen. Darwinism at its finest.

Therefore, I feel if you choose to ride without a helmet or proper gear (minimum of a DOT helmet and a protective jacket which would be as defined by but not required by law) you and your family can pay for your own ambulance, EMT, towing, ER services, doctor(s) and hospital bills, and for your extended convalescence should you become a vegetable. Your insurance should also not be liable beyond the repair of your bike. You made the choice, you pay for the consequences...not me. If you or your family can't afford to pay, they pull the plug. Hey, you made your choice...now you have to live with it...or in the worst case scenario- your family does.

The ultimate solution? Any rider who wants to ride without a helmet should be required by law to have a note from his or her mother giving permission to do so in their possession at all times. I bet all those people who are screaming "I wanna feel the wind in my hair" will wuss out when it comes to asking "mom" for a permission slip! "Mom" would probably kick their asses and call them selfish idiots for asking...

That is exactly the point I was trying to make, you should raw dog it all the time.

Those are some sick adds that would make anyone think twice about riding without a helmet

I see you guys get where I'm going with this...

"I didn't raise you to be a self-destrucive/selfish ass! What, you think I carried you for nine months (give or take) just so you could go and do something irresponsible like this? What about your wife/kid(s)/S.O./pets? What happens to them when you become a vegetable?"...and so on...

No law passed by any government can do a better job of being a mom than "Mom"!

and for those of you banking your sexual safety on condoms... think of an analogy to bikes... the only fool-proof safety measure is abstinence!
listen to the end of a trojan commercial, it always has the disclaimer that the condom does not protect against HIV or other STD's...and a quick look on the internet reveals tons of information like this:
"For persons whose sexual behaviors place them at risk for STDs, correct and consistent use of the male latex condom can reduce the risk of STD transmission. However, no protective method is 100 percent effective, and condom use cannot guarantee absolute protection against any STD. Furthermore, condoms lubricated with spermicides are no more effective than other lubricated condoms in protecting against the transmission of HIV and other STDs" --http://www.cdc.gov/condomeffectiveness/latex.htm
Does this mean we should all abstain from motorcycling???? What if my bike and I have a monaogamous relationship?? Even though my KLR was a virgin when I first rode her, I gotta admit I've ridden some pretty sleezy bikes in my younger days. But I got a note from my doctor so it's okay!

p.s. hey Chipper6, I hope you washed that KTM before you rode her, we had some wild nights!!

Haha, I think the general consensus is you can ride whatever you want as long as you got a note from your mommy but it is alwayz fun to go slumming with dirty bikes
