Can't make it to work today
On my way to work this morning at 5:45am
I got my car almost stuck in a snow drift less then 3 miles from home so ,
I turned around and went back home (in Palouse), called work to tell them I couldn’t make it to work till they plowed the highway and it stopped drifting
called my boss (in Garfield) to tell him I couldn’t make it in, he didn’t think he could either…

…Today is going to be a fun day...

…the county has already said that they want everyone to stay home because they can’t keep up with the snow and drifting road conditions

Yeah. Granted I don't have to go through anything compared to you, but I'm calling it a snow day as well. I've been pressing my luck with what my car can go through and this is crossing the line for me. I don't even know if I can get out of my driveway thanks to the city plow going by and pushing all the road snow into our parking pad and the local guy hasn't come by since Monday.

The drifts are fierce. I dunno now I made it through some of those earlier this season.

I'm the only one at work. I was also the only one that even attempted to park in my unplowed parking lot (thank you 4-wheel drive). My building is still locked and there are students waiting to get in. Why isn't WSU shutting down? No one is here!

That's what I was wondering. Seriously.

lol - they just updated the main emergency page saying that WSU is in full operational mode and is not closed.

I bet the majority of morning classes are canceled. Staff/faculty/students cannot get into the unplowed parking lots. And with the continuing snow, they won't be able to effectively clear them anyway. I bet my building is still locked.

I haven't received jack about canceled classes. My day is suppose to start at 8. I've been up since 6 am debating whether or not to go in and around 7 is when I said fuck that. Sorry I don't live in a dorm and can't shuffle my way to class. This is one of those times that I'd like to know how many students and faculty don't live on campus and live out of the area.

I got a call this morning that Deary got another 10 inches last night, and it was still coming down like a mofo.

It was my boss's wife, and the 4-wheeler, which is their snowplow, has broken down again.

She said it was a snow day because the driveway is just too snowy.

They are stuck at their house because they can't get out.

I have to go get my computer and stuff today because I don't want to make a trip out there this weekend, I'm not going in tomorrow because I'm flying to Redmond and back for Friday, and then I'm driving to Redmond (yes, I understand how rediculous this sounds) Sunday to spend 2 weeks!

so....

coffee?

If you pick me up. I'll be in pajamas. Cause I don't feel like getting dressed. And I need to do homework.

The drive to Lewiston wasn't too bad. I was able to drive 35-45 mph on hwy 95 until Gennessee, then it was 45-50 all the way to Lewiston. Roads are dry down here.

We just spent an hour digging the 3 foot drift from in front of our door. If not for the roll-up garage door we'd have been stuck in the house! We're sitting around drinking hot toddies and planning to walk downtown to the Green Frog for lunch. You're welcome to come along or drop by!
I'm off for the next 8 days so LET IT SNOW!!!!

Doesn't that KLR have tubes? If so, just punch some nails through the tires and you are set.

Speaking of that, the last three days some guy has been riding his Ruckus to campus (it's been parked in front of Dana hall). I saw him riding to campus doing a bit of drifting around a corner. Bravo my man!

I just spent a half hour shoveling what I could to get ahead on the shoveling I'll have to do later.

That was a losing battle.

The drive back up from Lewiston was much worse than the drive down. At 11:30 they were closing Hwy 95 just as I got past the entrance. 30-35 mph most of the way home. It was just about as bad getting from my house to Pullman for work, but at least it wasn't snowing very hard at that point.

195 was closed last I heard. They also closed 84 at Umatilla, so between that being closed, I90, and Highway 2 closed...there isn't a way to get between here and Seattle North of central Oregon. But even Oregon is advising people not to travel over any passes for 72 hours. We're screwed right now.

Day Two
I made it to work yesterday around 11am, and made it home okay at 8pm.
Will be trying to leave for work again at 6:30~ish this morning.

btw…talked to my ex, he works for grounds at WSU…(not the heavy machines guys that do the plowing ), he had a 12 hour day shoveling, he was practically dead…he’ll probably put in the same hours today. He falls in the category of “essential personnel”
