| Training Wheels Joined: Sep 2007 From: Palouse I Ride: 2008 KLR 650 | Maintainance day anyone? The weather is supposed to be shitty again this weekend. Probably because I have the weekend off... I need to spoon a new tire on the KLR and maybe a smaller front sprocket. If I moved those damn Bugs outta my shop we could have a rainy day maintainance day and drinking excuse. If anyone else is interested post up. Probably Sunday would be best for me. If Sherri still hasn't gotten her Ninja started and is willing to haul it out to Palouse, we could all drink beer and play with electricity/fire and ether.... If we get it running for her maybe she'll let us take it for drunken test rides through the cemetery in the rain!! I have a pretty good supply of tools and beer but more of each is always welcome. |

That could come in handy for some. I usually just hook a sling around the bike and use the engine hoist to hang it in the air. The bike. Just to clarify. Or is it to far out to make those kinds of commitments Either place sounds good to me. I'll probably be driving in sunday morning from spokompten. Don't really have any maintenance that I need to get done but I could ride it there in the rain for the wash |

If someone has a laptop with the Dynojet PCIII program on it that would be neat. EDIT: Or willing to install it. (have disc) <<<< lacks laptop... hard to get the buell up the stairs and into my room... or a 100ft USB cord....hmmmmm Last edited by Chipper6; 03-14-2008 at 04:28 PM.. |

Its more of a workspace...but if you're there alone and you have an empty bottle things can...flow normally...so to speak! The weather seems to be fickle, but post Sunday morning looks mostly cloudy after a few morning showers...perhaps I will join in the fun! |

| Training Wheels Joined: Sep 2007 From: Palouse I Ride: 2008 KLR 650 | Sunday 3/16/08 Okay, heres the deal: I'll be in the shop with lots of room, tools, some beer to spare on Sunday from 11:00 to 2:00 or so. I'm putting on a new tire but need stick-on balancing weights. If anyone is coming from a town with an auto parts store...I'd appreciate you picking some up. Otherwise, it's a KLR, it doesn't really go fast enough to need perfect balance (at least not immediately). I'll also be doing a few other minor maintainance, gear change, lube, chain adjustment, etc. Anyone and everyone is welcome. I do have a laptop if Chipper needs it. I dont have HALO but we could critique Dragons PJ choices. Johnny would be welcome to find me a new freakin' radio station (plus he's a fun guy, despite everyone giving him constant shit). I've got a great book on Sportster performance mods for Wadel, Sheri is encouraged to haul the little Ninja out, Koorbloh is always welcome, and any PNWRiders that I haven't met so far are cetainly invited to come on out, do a little maintainence, tip a brew, give advice, etc! I'm at 500 South Wiley in Palouse but mapquest doesn't know where I live. Go ahead and get the map from Mapquest if you want. Then from Palouse-Cove road just go east on Union street to the top of the hill and turn right (south) on Wall. Go about 100 yards and turn right (west) on Elmo street (which is NOT shown on the Mapquest map). Go to the end and my house is the last one on the left. The shop is up behind the house with the ugliest VW on the planet parked in front of it. C'mon in. My wife will probably be in the house if you get lost. Sometimes she feeds lost souls and she knows where the beer fridge is. If you get lost call 509-878-1613, we might not answer since theres no phone in the shop...on purpose, but you can try. Trauma and I went for a little ride afterward so he could scrub in his new tires. He's ready to rip on the KLR now. BTW, the cutoff highway from Palouse to 95 is rougher than shit right now. The culvert cuts have settled a lot...nearly launched off my bike a couple times even when semi-standing on pegs. |

| Training Wheels Joined: Sep 2007 From: Palouse I Ride: 2008 KLR 650 | Thanks guys! Yea, a good shop day, thanks for coming out guys. That new smaller front sprocket makes a huge differece in the "seat of the pants dyno". In top gear I used to be doing 63mph (indicated) at 4,000 rpm, now its more like 56mph, so top end will suffer a bit, but then again....WHAT TOP END, ITS A KLR! No noticeable vibration from the unbalanced tire, will balance as soon as I can find weights. Maybe one of the cycle shops on Tuesday. Anyway it's still holding air thanks to Jeffs fine help. Wade is talking about the road from Palouse toward Potscratch. I did'nt realize it was going to be that bad. I guess when they widened the shoulders last fall they must have spent all their budget. I caught a little air off the first posted "bump". Don't worry about missing this time Dragon, Johnny said you'd make up for it at the first annual Palouse bikini bike wash. |

Anywho... It probably wouldn't have been worth tuning the PCIII before I changed the airfilter anyways. I also have a set of slightly taller bars coming in from a canuck so I'll have to do a tank off maintance day to free some wires from thier contraints. Maybe the next rainy cold day. |
