Elk River Camping
I like the idea of camping for a few days at Elk River.
Can I assume I can get my 30 ft 5th wheel back in there in June?
Is there a certain place we should be camping if we want to ride our trail bikes?
Is there a campground that you recommend ?

thanx

There are all kinds of elk camps off the forest service roads around Elk River. Most of them are probably accessible, even with a behemoth like you have. There is also a campground right near town that should accommodate you (don't quote me on that). As far as riding, it doesn't matter where you stay. Dirt bikes, quads, etc have free run of town and all the FS roads. I think the quads might have plates on them but I'm not sure. I just know they are all over the place. Miles and miles of FS and logging roads to explore.

I say there is exploring and verification with photo proof of this "camp sight" next saturday or sunday... (hopefully a day we can get trauma and others day off). All proper log books and records should be kept.

If only we all had dual sports................ KTM 300 to the auction block must make room for a plated 450

I'd love to head out there (Elk River Cafe has the best burgers around) but I'll be out of town next weekend. The following week possibly?

Someday I'll save up enough to get my dirt beast:

Most of the land around Elk River is owned by Potlatch corp an they require permits to use their land.

It is a $75 fee for atv's, $50 for your truck, and $100 for a camper. They are even charging $10 for u to just walk around on their land. I paid my fees last year and never even rode on their land so I am saying the hell with it this year.

If you look at the link, it is $55 for the truck, $55 for a trailer, and $27.50 for an atv.

Just a check on that permit thing .
Just to ride around on the roads and trails near elk river I need to buy that permit ?
seems kinda steep for 3 days.
Now when we move to Moscow I could do that but at least I could use it many times during the year.

There are miles and miles of forest service roads that you can hit without the permit but any of the trails that cross their land require the permit. And most of the land around there is their land.

Delayed reconnaissance then.

We'll apply all 7 P's to this ride and with enough notice everyone should be able to plan around it

Damn they are getting more greedy this year. I for sure am not going to be riding on their land and they have some of my favorite four wheeling trails. Oh guess I will be finding a new place to ride. I would rather be out on my motorcycle now any way, just lost interest in the four wheelers.
