Spies is a ....

I have met him a few times, I am not a fan.

He proved to be the best rider on the grid. yippee.

But you gotta remember, Fabrizio cost Haga big time.

F Spies, I look forward to his mid pack performance at Moto GP.

NOT!

Go Haga!!!!

Fab also cost Ben 25 points with one bonehead move, so it's a wash.

Allister, I agree with you on this ^^

However, if Spies didn't have some of his troubles with the bike (ran out of fuel, mechanical) my guess is that he would have been a little farther ahead. Ben is an incredible rider. I don't care for him. But great for the US...we have a World Champ again. I truly hope he does well in GP. I have my doubts he will be dominant. I think he will truly have to show his talents there.

When all said and done, I still think WSBK is a better series. Plus we never consider that they run 2 races in the same day! I would like to know some stats on how many miles the average MotoGP rider races in a year compared to WSBK????

You can tell alot about a persons character when you watch them interact with others with whom they percieve to have less power, influence or importance.

My admittedly few interactions with Ben were in very low key situations, I was not part of a mob of fans (or even a group), I was not intruding, I did not impose, I was alone.

He was less than gracious, in situations where being gracious would have cost him very little.

Mabye he has grown up, I hope so...

But I'm still a Haga fan.

Haga 2010!!!!

Don't like Ben, wish Haga won, but I think Ben wanted / needed it more this year. Haga will have another year to try while Spies is leaving, at least this way he goes as a champ. Not to say he will do great in GP, but maybe he will... I'm really interested in his wild card ride in last round of GP...

the WSB title is a well deserved win for ben, but moto-gp is not SB... just ask hayden, bayliss, toseland, hodgson, fogarty, corser, edwards. SB is absolutely not GP, would like to see spies do well but i'd give him a few years before he's got anyone shaking in their boots...

The only difference between Ben Spies and the above names you mentioned is that, they did not set record on their rookie year and much less now the track he raced, so we can all doubdt, speculate whatever about his talent but, he is determine and knows what it takes to be in the front.

not to mention the fact that he has mess with moto gp on the same weekend as ama and finished great with a horrible suzucki. oh yeah he had a stomach problem that weekend as well didnt he?

its sad to see the haters that cant even appreciate the fact that a united states kid is making us no matter how shitty weve become look like a country that can put true racers on tracks over seas..

id be soo amazed if you found one italian that didnt support rossi for what hes done for his country, or biaggi if he didnt have such an uprising involved with rossi. or japan enthusiasts not supporting haga. this is the f'ed up part with some of you. but oh this is a free country... for now...

Get off your yankee doodle, this is a racing thread. Nobody gives a fuck if you're American, or Japanese, or Italian etc etc. In the world of public icons, that stuff doesn't matter. Actually, it doesn't even matter period. What the fuck are you even talking about? Oh that's right, I don't care.

Wow, another over-patriotic, narrow-minded American blabber mouth.

Ben is a badass. I met him the Friday night before the races and BS'd about the AMA and Texas for a few minutes. He was like anyone else there that weekend, happy talkin' about bike with anyone who wanted to. I told him BMW could have used him, he laughed. The Iceman ain't so cold....
Hated or not, he is the best....watch your ass Mr. Rossi....

I hope by saying "how shitty we've become" you are talking about the goat rodeo of AMA/DMG and not the US citizens or our exceptional culture.

I am a motorcycle racing fan.

I respect many of the competitors.

I want Haga to win.

I will admit, I like seeing the American flag at the top of the reader board for WSBK results.

Spies is undeniabley the best rider on the grid.

However, I have been a Haga fan since before Ben reached puberty, or notoriety as a rider.

If he can show long term determination, resolve and courage, then I will probably learn to be more of a fan.

But for now I like Haga.

Haga 2010.

At the GP level, I have enjoyed the greatness of Rossi, and I like the Stoner Lorenzo competition to keep him doing his thing.

I just wish the 990's were back without all the traction control crap!

Haga really gave it away in Race 1, I wanted him to win but he really put himself out of the title battle. No other rider to blame, he messed up, Ben won. I wanted Haga to win too, but oh well.

Too bad they won't let rookies race factory bikes in their first year in GP any more...

Now this is a great post. Outside of Rossi you would be hard pressed to find a more loyal fan base than that of Nori. He is the Mamolla of the modern age. I do hope he gets one in 2010.

If it wasn't true it would be funny...
I've met randy Mamola a couple three times. Just about the nicest guy you'd ever want to meet. Very talented rider. But he came around when there were greater talents...
Bad timing...
