They were a hugely popular Disco band in the mid seventies. By 1980 they were universally despised. The irony is thicker when it does not have to be explained. You must not remember the 70's Duane.

So now I've double diluted the irony by my explaining it.

Never mind him, he was bitten by a Rossi a s a child.

Seriously though, it is impossible to know things like who is the GOAT.

I'm going to guess he'll be remembered like Doohan or Rainey. A really good rider but not one of the all-time greats.

If Melandri takes West's ride after Shanghai and Biaggi comes in to take that second factory Ducati and then beats Rossi on it. Well *THAT* would seal the deal. On the other hand if Rossi finds a way to win this year, unlikely as it may be, he'll be catapulted to GOAT status.

Of course we all know that Bonsey will be the GOAT in 10 years so really this is all pointless

Wait, 250cc practice is on TV right now... why am I here posting?!!

Just losing to the hillbilly the way he did in 06 seals the deal for him never being considered as the GoAT. The only way now for him to reclaim the myth that is Rossi is to win a GP championship on a Cycz.

I would love it if you're right about Bonsey. The kid is looking really good.

Looks like Bautista was only a second and change off of Melandri's practice pace. Oh poor Marco.

And looks like Lorenzo broke his ankle. but I should start this in another thread.

Here's the thing-Rossi is the Micheal Schumacher of Motorcycles. The rules had to change in order to give any other rider or team a chance to even compete. Remember in F1 when the motor was reduced in size and they could only use so many motors in two races and the tire thing? That is what happened to Rossi. He was so far above anyone else, they had to change the rules so that other teams weren't pissing money away, fighting for 2nd place.

No, he won't retire until he wins this and the next championship.

Holy fantasy fan boi camp Fred. That is funny.
I tend to believe the rumors a bit especially given the fact that it's no secret Yamaha wants him gone.

So how did you modify the poll to let you vote 6 times?

Rossi already is the GOAT. Funny how Internet pundits say he's all washed up, and never faced real competition, and always seem to forget when he went from to Yamaha and a known inferior bike, and still dominated. Not to mention many of the other GP legends regard him as one of the best riders ever. Gee, who would be better qualified to judge his talent? Former GP champs? Or some schmuck on the Internet?

Rossi is no G.O.A.T. IMO but will always be remebered as one of the greats.
If he would have stuck with hoooonda you think the end of his career would have gone better? I think the yammi move was bold but not the best choice, just showed he could win on about anything.
