Overall I think the change is good. As much as I love 2-strokes, they are pretty much a dead technology with no real benefits trickling down to the marketplace. Having prototype 600s will definitely spark some innovation and development that consumers will see down the road. The real issue is - If they do go with full prototype 600s, they'll be very close in performance to the 800s. Maybe they should make them 400s instead (that would rock). |

I think that would be way cooler than 600cc "prototypes" bikes. Oh well... at least this way American riders might stand a better chance than they do now, with their European counterparts getting the double advantage of coming up through 125s and 250s (which ride more like the 800s than a Superbike) and getting the track knowledge to boot. Riders in 600SS or FX should be able to jump over to 600 GP bikes. |
