"You live more riding bikes like these for 5 minutes than most do in their entire life"

I hadn't seen that picture yet either, pretty much the ultimate example of wrong place wrong time. I read a summary of the press conference from the Moto GP race direction.

This helps shed some light on the situation, it really seems there was nothing that could be done for him. I strongly doubt that he felt any pain, which is comforting to know. As for him low-siding it does appear that he almost had saved it and just couldn't pull himself back up, which would have been absolutely superman-like. At the angle he was taking he would have definitely gone off track had he not been struck. His determination and refusal to quit is what caused him to perish, which is nothing short of amazing and makes me respect him that much more.

The live BBC announcers were saying he gained consciousness a few minutes after they took him away. Doesn't really line up with the reports.

I know, they also said the race was gonna resume. Sometimes its better to keep delicate things private till the officials decide what to do.

That was false. He was in cardiac arrest as soon as they got to him.

Here is a very nice tribute vid: (its on my face book page)

https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=751899600

Here are the lyrics and the english.

• Sta Passando Novembre • | by Eros Ramazzotti
è per te
questo bacio nel vento
te lo manderò lì
con almeno altri cento

è per te
forse non sarà molto
la tua storia lo so
meritava più ascolto
e magari chissà
se io avessi saputo
t'avrei dato un aiuto
ma che importa oramai
ora che...

puoi prendere per
la coda una cometa
e girando per l'universo
te ne vai
puoi raggiungere forse
adesso la tua meta
quel mondo diverso che
non trovavi mai
solo che non doveva
andar così, solo che
tutti ora siamo un pò
più soli qui

è per te
questo fiore che ho scelto
te lo lascerò lì
sotto un cielo coperto
mentre guardo lassù
sta passando novembre
e tu hai vent'anni
per sempre... ora che...

puoi prendere per
la coda una cometa
e girando per l'universo
te ne vai
puoi raggiungere forse
adesso la tua meta
quel mondo diverso che
non trovavi mai...
non trovavi mai...
puoi raggiungere forse
adesso la tua meta
quel mondo diverso che
non trovavi mai...

solo che non doveva
andar così, solo che
tutti ora siamo un pò
più soli qui
tutti ora siamo un
pò più soli qui...

è per te...

[English Translation:]

this kiss in the
wind is for you
you'll get it there
with another hundred ones

this is for you
maybe it's not much
I know your story
it deserved more attention
and maybe who knows
if I had known
I would have helped you
but what does it matter
now that...

you can take the
tale of a comet and
by turning the universe
you can go away
maybe you can reach
your goals now
a different world that
you never found before
it just didn't have
to happen this way
now we are all a little
bit more lonely here

this is for you
this flower I chose
I will leave it there
under a covered sky
I look in the far distance
and November is passing
and you've got 20 years
forever... now that...

you can take the
tale of a comet and
by turning the universe
you can go away
maybe you can reach
your goals now
a different world that
you never found before...
you never found before...
maybe you can reach
your goals now
a different world that
you never found before...

it just didn't have
to happen this way
now we are all a little
bit more lonely here
now we are all a little
bit more lonely here...

this is for you...

Rev those bad boys this Sunday for our favorite MotoGP bad boy! Super Sic, you are missed. There will be a major noticeable absense on the track and in the paddock for a long time...

I got access to some high res photos from the 2011 Bruno race. There are some cool photos of Simoncelli and others. Figured some people might wanna have high res screen savers.
