Talking Dunlop Q2's
Iím in love with the Dunlop Q2's! They feel as planted as the Corsa 3's at about half the price!!!! i only have ~60 miles on them so far but the chicken strips are almost gone already! Already taking 15mph corners at 45mph, and that took me nearly half way through the Michelin 2CTís tire life to do!


So I know they aren't a brand new tire to the market, so does anyone have good / bad things to warn me about with them? Like they're numb to the road (because I have yet to slide EVER) or handle water?

Iím just amazed I guess because I just took them out for the second time up bald peak and was pushing like I knew them for allot longer then Iíve had them, with 0 warnings or any issues, hard braking, powering out of the turns, late turn ins, nothing seamed to faze these puppies!

Yeah Dunlop you're great in my book again!

only time my Q2 ever slipped was letting the clutch out a bit too hard on decel. I imagine if you have a slipper clutch you will not have this happen. Its not a big deal, easy to control.

I love the grip on them and i know i dont corner near as hard as i could but i dont trust corners to be clean every time.

I dont like the wear time. Only got about 3k on mine and i need to buy a new rear tire. going with PR3's this time...

I haven't run Dunlopís before since I had some take off's and I guess I didn't warm them up enough one January morning before I made a turn and the bike came around on me before I left my cul-de-sac! so this is my first time back with Dunlop since that fateful morning ~4 years ago. Admittedly it was my fault, but I was pissed and I hold a grudgeÖ.

So it sounds like they can spin up easy eh, ok watch the throttle on and clutch engagement, good info!

They are awesome overall, just be damn careful when it is wet or cold. That is not their strong point. You will slide.

They are, like any other tire, susceptible to gravel/sand/dirt in the road, so on the public streets, great confidence will be shattered quickly when you happen upon those foreign substances unexpectedly on the roadway. That has made for some major ass puckering moments for me on those tires! Other than that like you said they stick fantastic when warmed up.

I Ride: 2003 Copper SV1K
They won't last long either....less than 3K on my SV1000. Great tire with lots and lots of grip but crappy life. I wasn't ever comfortable with the turn in either. I think they are more profiled for the track as they get to a certain point and then you drop over like a rock. Never got used to it.

The only surface I've found them to perform poorly on is illegal gravel

huh... that's the biggest positive thing I noticed about them was how effortless it is to turn in with them, I almost tucked the front on my maiden voyage because of that, well I haven't leaned all the way over on them yet, so I'll save that for the track I suppose.

I'm a Michelin guy but The dealer "Threw in" a new pair of Q2's when I bought My RC. I was hesitant at first. Once they warm up they are awesome, but cold days I have to be careful cause I have had them slip a few times. I've gotten used to it but it still sucks. If I was back in florida, I could see myself running these tires all the time but for now I'm always on edge. Especially since I live in small town BFE these tires never really get to heat up unless I make a run out to HWY 9 or something. Anyway, on the track I can see these things being awesome but for now i'm looking to get some michelins back on it so I can be comfortable year round.
Just so you know though, by the time we get out to HWY 9 and the tires are warmed up we start having some serious fun cause these tires are amazing all around! But I need tires that I can trust from the first minute I leave the house. I ride to work at 530 am every day and its only a 5 mile ride so thats my only issue.

What kind of mileage can you expect out of them? Specifically, on a bike with stupid amounts of torque at the bottom end.

About the only time I've ran into the problem as well.

I have to say I've enjoyed my set but its the first set I've had so I'll let you know later. I've put 3 track days onto them as well as a couple hundred miles. The first track day I had it was raining in the morning and I had just barely mounted them up. They were SLIPPPERRRYYYYY!!! but thats not really their fault.

I have had them slip out when getting on them a bit too hard coming out of the corners at the track. They definitely warm up quick and have a good response but a bit less "responsive" compared to the super corsas. For the money I would definitely get them again.

I ride almost year round myself (depending on conditions not time of year) so that's basically what I was worried about, Iím running low pressure's on the street now because they're brand new, 29F and 27R, ( @ 85-95 Degreeís Air temp) I noticed they aren't nearly as warm as the 2CT's get at that pressure so Iíll just keep the pressure's low I guess. Dunlop is pretty famous for needing low pressure to generate heat, so Iím not terribly surprised.

no offense to anyone who complains about cold weather grip, but that is rider error not a q2 problem. i think it is just an easy out.

q2's are awesome everywhere except life span, especially those who are hard on acceleration when up and down.

I Ride: '06 FZ1, '99 R1, '80 Suz GS450S
I used to use Corsa IIIs. I get a few more miles out of the Q2s, and better yet, they wear more evenly and I don't get surprised by sudden threads showing the way I did with the rear Corsas.

I like the feel as much or more than the Corsas, but I do feel a little less secure when laying it over on the sidewall in the wet.
