Day 7: Bondurant to Yellowstone then to Cody, Wy.

Was up in time to finish watching the sun come from the campground.

Managed to collect a fair amount of bugs from the previous evening.

Another gorgeous morning with great views.

Here's a pic of the watering hole and the bear locker.

Made it into Jackson to top off the tanks for the next stretch of our adventure.

Into Tieton... A nice older dude offered to take our pic.

To be cont. tomm.............

The Tieton area is a pretty cool place with lots to see.

Rob waiting patiently as I take more pics.

A couple more near the same lake.

Still Day 7 Through Yellowstone
To be honest I'm a bit tired from the ride and going right back to work so I'm gonna keep the commentary short er, and just get these pics up.

I was hoping this one would have turned out a little better.

I got some good shots of this waterfall last year but it is too cool to not stop again.

Rob had never seen Old Faithful so we headed west and took the shorter loop through the park.

One or two people usually want to see it as well.

Little one in the distance.

Old Faithful........

We bailed before it finished so we could beat the rush. This woman appeared nice enough so I asked if I could take her picture.

This area just past O.F. is pretty cool.

Waste of a good hat... ( I believe we counted 7 or 8 total around the pool. )

Saw the same woman again.

I'm gonna buy a colapsable fishin' pole for next year. I was wanting to fish every river.

Rob was a bit dissapointed that I didn;t stop at the first 2 buffalo we saw. I told him there would be many more but I know he thought I was full of sh_t. As luck would have it we happened upon one or two more. Here's your beefalo WB!

Rob ventured a bit closer than I would go. I reminded him that these things can be a bit unfriendly.

The herd.

This one looked a bit irritated. I took the shot quick and we bailed.

Here's that forest fire we saw in Utah, these are taken from Fishing Bridge area which is heading E out of park.

This is the last leg of day seven heading out of East gate to Cody. Was surprised as we came out that crews were working on another fire just out of the park.

The place I wanted to stay was booked so we found a little Motel just down the road.

Took these from the motel lot as the sun was setting.

Day 8: Chief Joseph Hwy. / Beartooth Pass ( Hwy 212 ) to Red Lodge, Mt.

Headed out of Cody and fueled up for what was last year and will be a part of my annual Adventure every year

Chief Joseph Hwy

As we headed out we were behind a group of like 12 Harley's. We waited patiently for a legit spot to pass, waved to everyone of them and cracked the throttle! Just as things are getting good you have to stop at the look out.

Got a couple good pics last year of the chipmunks and there were a few again.

Rob made a friend and fed this one a granola bar.

I don;t recall this from last year but it was probably there and I probably already got a pic but oh well.

I spotted this camp ground last year coming down off the look out so we stopped to check it out. Dead Indian is the name of the place. Right on the creek too

We opted to set up our tents and lighten the load so we could go play with no baggage.

No potable water there but a pretty cool little spot really.

C.J. is seriously a fun _ss road, with incredible views the whole way. Here's a few pics before we went up 212.

Rob resting for a few while I take pics. Another benifit of no baggage on tail.

212 it is

Stopped at the top for 2 replacment decals for the ones I got last year. They take some abuse being low on my fairing. Could think of worse rides to go on to get some decals

Pics from up on Beartooth.

Made it in to Red Lodge for some lunch. All you can eat Pizza and salad bar.... and 3 cups of coffee. Tends to be a bit chilly @ 11k on 212.

Afte we were stuffed we headed back and did 212 and C.J. one more time before heading back to camp. Seriously a rough way to spend the day.

Now Rob has proof he rode one of the best roads ever!

Expression of pure enjoyment and the heat may have been getting to him a little.

Heading back to camp.

Sunset, creek, a lil rabbit and.....

End Day 8.

Day 9 C.J. Hwy/Dead Indian Camp Ground to Lolo Pass.

Morning at the camp ground.

Back into Yellowstone heading to West Gate.

Saw some Elk.

The traffic coming back through to the more visited side was a bit heavy. Didn;t take too many pics as we just wanted to get heading West at a good clip.
Went through Virginia City, Mt. and Nevad City again. Really neat place if you take the time to look around. It was still pretty warm though.

Missed this pic last year.

The amount of constuction though Montana was a more than I would have liked and for whatever reason I/we kept having some difficulty with folks driving pilot cars.

Finally made it to a camp groung just west of where Lolo Pass starts.

End Day 9

Day 10: Lolo Pass to Grants Pass, Ore.

Off to a fun start

Lolo is always fun but if you ride it, you will be stopping here for fuel. The woman who works @ this store is great.

Took these along Hwy13 in Idaho. Another road I would recc. highly.

After another longer day and having been givin our award in Utah just shy of the Ore. border we were happy to set up our tents and chill out.

Day 11: La Grande through Tri Cities, and home

Sorry folks but no pics on this day. We headed out from camp and rode right into our first T Storm of trip. Mildly ironic after all those miles we start getting wet less than one state away from Washington. We saw ground strikes again and watched two fires start.

Stopped at a Denny's , ate a fat breakfast and made our way to the Tri Cities to stop in and see MJN. WOuldn;t have been right to roll through and not see Mark.

The rest of the ride we were just looking forward to getting home.

9 States, 11 Days 4,500 miles. One new set of tires, 2 awards, and thousands of miles of smiles, twisty's, sweepers, the Holy Rollers on 120, and an all around EPIC RIDE!!!

Having someone else to share the ride with along the way was definatley cool even if we didn't get rolling "early" every morning.

At this juncture in the evening I don;t have anything thought out as far as how to close this thread. I can say as I did last year; that I will be doing a ride like this every year until I am no longer able.
The roads yet to travel, the great ones that call you back, and all that there is to see on two wheels. The experience is unforgettable and memories like these will last a lifetime. I hope you had a blast Rob, you did good Dude. You are now a Savage Glad you were able to come along.

Take Care, Have FUN and Ride Safe.

Peace,

"B"

How are you going to handle those awards? I've never had an out-of-state one before?

Another awesome road trip, I wish everybody who rides could experience a well planed out road trip, the memories and comradery last forever. Sucks on the awards though, that's is usually one of my biggest concerns on such a journey

Thanks! Your saddle bags helped make it possible In the process of trying to figure it out. I called th court and the prosecutor over there and there is no defferral program Called WSDOL and an award in Idaho will show up here I have called Mike Sheehan to get some guidence, and maybe to refer me to someone? I really don;t care as my driving record is clean but I know it can be beat and even though it's only $140 I don;t want to pay it Weiser Idaho is not exactley right across the street

B, nicely put “Epic Ride”. I know that the older I get, the more I enjoy riding and exploring. Savoring the sights and fragrances along the way. Not to say you can’t rip it up now and again.
When folks ask me where I’m going when I take trips like that. I usually say “I’m already there”.

At the ripe 'ol age of almost 37 I try find a balance between riding style and taking in all I can with my other senses: sight, smell etc.
While Rob and I were going through the desert at night ( I had told him previously to take note of smells etc.) we couldn;t see sh_t but while on a 2 lane I smelled something strong, dirty, and whatever it was must have been big and very close to the road

Good call Jay, You are correct. It was La Grande, Ore. Funny you say that 'cause when we got stopped for allegedly speeding in Idaho I told the officer we were enroute to Grand Junction, Ore. He looked at me funny and I said "whoops that's Colorado!?! I mean LaGrande"

Many states and many cities. Hard to keep them straight sometimes
