I Ride: to be determined
Summer's a comin' and so are the Bike Nights
Were we to organize a weekly or bi-weekly or monthly bike night, what nights and venues would work for all y'all?

What exactly is a bike night? That something other than meeting up at Safeway and riding someplace?

Seeing the word venue I'm imagining something more like a bunch of bikes lined up all shiny on Stephens or Harvard or something.

LOL. Yes. By venue I mean Sonic or Stewart Park or A&W or Pete's or something. Could be Safeway I suppose.

It might be an evening thing where we meet and have a soda or something. Or a burger. We could tell stories, we could roast marshmallows, we could...

The sort of thing that lets folks meet each other and introduces other passerby riders to the fact that there's a local group, etc.

I Ride: I just keep it in the garage and make the neighbors think I ride
Like the one coming up this Friday.

Meet and Greet Friday May 1st

Get together, meet riders, talk about rides, have a bite or a drink.

I'd be down for a bar for a meet and roast marshmallows type night but on a ride night I wouldn't want to tempt myself. I drink enough as it is, don't want to mix my two hobbies.

Frog burgers, are good, but they are almost more legend than substance among the locals. Still, I remember my parents bringing them home for sis and me since I was old enough to eat hamburgers.

i vote for the place that has the cheapest strongest drinks that way we could get the most for our money. and of course afterwards there must be a ride. drinking and riding... ahhhhh. now thats a bike night. imagine it now, ten drunks blasting through town... burning out, lane splitting, riding on the sidewalks..etc.. lets do this right!!
but really. im good for a place. does it have to be the same? would there be a ride before or during? what about meeting at a park and then picking a place to roll to? these are just ideas. i dont have a strong preference. i like the idea..

its okay.. well hook you up with a camelback. im sure any of the over 21-ers will get you some of the finest whatever your favorite flavor is. that way youll have a head start on us. then, while were at happy hour, you can stand guard over the bikes.

but really. im not a fan of bikes at bars/drinking + riding at all.

After reading the first post again.... It should be someplace visible.... highly publicly visible.... 1) to raise awareness about our little club, 2)to raise awareness about motorcycle riders anyway, 3) to possibly have some other roseburg strays join our little group 4) best keep it to family friendly places so Elijah and his girlfriend can play too....

Right, that's why Sonic is sort of good. High visibility, etc. Though I'm kind of liking nighthawker's post, LMAO!

If I'm going to a place like McMenamins, I'm drinking a beer. Which means I'm driving my car. Not as in drinking and driving. You get the idea.

So this Friday May 1st is more of a rainy-day get-together.

The bike night thing would be an all-ages deal. That way we COULD go on a ride afterward, etc. so on. so forth.

I hope I can join you guys sometime. I lived there for 4 years before joining the Army to see the world. Live in Seaside now, but my parents are still there, so I might get lucky and be there for one of your bike nights.

Frog burgers, at The Jersey Lilly, were excellent when I lived there, but that place is not very public. Unless it's moved, it's on a backroad that doesn't get much traffic, and there's no way to keep an eye on the bikes while inside.

Both Sonic and Pete's are good for being outside with the bikes. I don't know where Sonic is in Roseburg, but Pete's is on a pretty well traveled road. I'm with you that it should be family friendly, so anyone can attend, plus, it would be good to have windows if you're going to be inside so that no one can mess with the bikes without being seen.

I'll keep watching this thread so if I'm going to be there for one of your bike nights, I can bring my Yamaha down for it. Have fun.

I think I know where you're talking about. Is there a Los Dos Amigos restaurant on one corner, and Clint Newell Motors on the other? Is the Sonic across from a Chinese buffet restaurant in front of the strip mall? If so, that's a really busy intersection. Just about anyone out driving in Roseburg will see you there. I miss it down there. Is the weather getting warmer yet? I can't wait to come down again. It's been several months for me, and it was cold still when I was there last.

so it came to mind... and i totally dont want to make it difficult for anyone but... maybe we can have a place that has shade. as far as summer goes, if its hot and especially if theres no shade, ill not be able to go. ive got a heat/sun disorder thing and when its over 70-75 ish ive got to really keep an eye on this. of course like i said if all can figure a good place to meet thats not got shade, cool. ill just be able to go on not hot/sunny days.. if that made sense..

It was my fault, young and dumb.

Still young, still dumb..anyways.

I went there after the grocery store got a hamburger and fries and was eating when it dawned on me I had cold beer in the back seat. I rolled up the tinted window on my truck and was discreetly enjoying a cold beer with my burger when the detective/waiter came up. It was probably the combination of the fact he was kicking me out and the ton of attitude he gave me while doing it that prompted me to "return" my food. He was not impressed.

Great story. Thanks for sharing. A waiter? I've only seen girls serving there. I've seen people drinking at Pete's during Graffiti Days, I don't drink, so I'm not even sure... Is that a crime? Is it because you were in the truck? My thought is, you bought the food, and your truck is a private place, like your living room. You should be able to do what you want in there as long as no one is getting hurt by it. Don't get me started on the stupid rules/laws in our country that make no sense.... It would be fun to go there as a large group, and see them try to kick you out. I'd love to see the look on there faces if we all left together after placing a large order of food, and before we paid. That would be fun.

... and nighthawker, I'm with you on the shade. No health problems with the sun for me, but when it's above about 65, I'm only in the sun long enough to walk between shady spots.

You know I meant to do it before eating the food. If we ate and left without paying, that would be illegal. Hey, if they kicked us out, it would be their own fault. I'd like to see what they think when they discover that riders stick together and watch out for each other.
