Sightings
On my way home today I saw what looks like a green 2008 Kawasaki Ninja 250- Took the Edenbower exit and went to Stephens, I lost him shortly after that. Anyone spot this rider we'll have to try and get him on the forum...

I'd like to add a sighting to this thread if appropriate.

There's a late 70's / early 80's Japanese standard cruising around here with some sweet customizations. It's all black, has cafe bars, chopped rear section with some undertail-type taillight/turn signal setup, and of course some beautifully obnoxious pipe.

The two times I've seen him, it was on Harvard. I'll buy a coffee or Sonic drink to whoever a) posts a pic of the bike with Roseburg landmarks and b) gets the rider on PNWRiders.

Sorry for the threadjack, Varment. I'll keep an eye out for your baby Ninja too.

My son Noah's bear rides in the rear seat on many of my weekend trips.

I guess the Hi-Viz works...you saw me!! GPS says it was 2:42pm. I had to stop and clean the bugs from my faceshield....took a bee dead center of my field of vision. Logged 364 miles today and 763 for the weekend. Rode some excellent, lightly traveled 2-lane roads in Washington between Castle Rock and Aberdeen. Best part is I visited my rental house in Aberdeen so my mileage is deductible!!

Well darn it! It was you!

I looked over and saw you just after the exit or I would have stopped. I was on my way back from Portland. Kind of a freeway slog, but fun nonetheless

did I really?

I have to say, I was going against my morals and kind of riding like an A hole today. Those damned people on the interstate and their "I live in the left lane" mentality got to me. Sorry 'bout that.

I am guilty of one or two pass on the right maneuvers this weekend.

Not really, you were coming off the corner from Umpqua Video towards Stella.. the road that has the 3 stop signs right in a row. I was at the first stop sign facing you, I was in the passenger seat waving like madman

Gah! Sorry Jim! Was talking about St1300's the other day with my buddy. Well, we were talking about his FJR, and comparing the big sport-tourers. But anyway... Glad you got some miles in, sounds like you had a good trip.

Speedholes, I hear you on living in left lane. Sometimes I think I'm an easy candidate for road rage. I get agitated easily with everyone's lack of consideration for the fact that driving is a SYSTEM (like an ecosystem) with a bunch of moving parts (other drivers, road conditions, flow of traffic, etc) and not just about them and their one vehicle.

So basically, at any given time, there is at least one person in your immediate sphere of experience acting like a douche in traffic. Grrr.

ohh grrrr.. i am so with you there..

i love it when they get pissed at you for tailgating and then passing on the right, then they speed up and throw the finger out at you.

its like "Damn! if you don't want to drive as fast as i need you to go, MOVE OVER!!!" lol

lead, follow, or get out of the way.... or better yet just stay home.... I'm with you there cascade, slow left hand lane campers really piss me off.... ESPECIALLY when the right lane is clear for miles front and rear.....

I love the analogy to a system.

Better yet is the semi drivers that decide to pass each other when one is only going .1 mph faster than the next. They hold up 50 cars for about 2 miles.

I've got to admit, I was camping out in a lane this weekend. Driving back from the beer fest in Centralia, I was in a mellow mood, so knowing how much my speedo is off, I set it for corrected 60 MPH in a 60 zone and sat in the far right lane. At one point, had some lady blow past me, cut in front of me, and hit the brakes to take an exit. No one immediately behind me. I was on the verge of locking the tires up, went front 5 gear to second, and seriously considered ramming her.

Click, that's great. Luckily, we were talking about the LEFT lane. But your transparency is appreciated.

EDIT: Speaking of sightings, I saw the cleanest-looking VFR. Yellow Gen 5. Beautiful. Parked at Chevron Dutch Bros. I pulled in and asked the coffee guy if that was his VFR. He was like "what? Oh, the motorcycle? No it's HIS." And pointed to some guy laying on the grass chillin with a coffee. Appeared to be passing through.

Anyway, I want it. I think for the next generation, they should drop the VTEC, keep the underseat exhaust, and revert to gear-driven cams. But that won't happen.

Sport it up a bit, throw in a 4 way underseat exhaust a la MV Agusta and I would be SET.

Um, yeah, with the ugliest bodywork I've ever seen. Yeah, let's go down there. He's got a sort of museum set up in there. Last time I was there he had a nice RSV Mille.

Auto Mania in Grants Pass. I don't know. It's pretty cool. Click one of those links and you should be able to check out the rest of the site. On the stuff for sale, they mostly consign, I think.

Hey all,

Automania is pretty cool. Great place to drool and talk bikes. Of course, a few of his collection, I'd prefer to have in my garage...

Say when you want to go look, and maybe I'll join in. Just don't be making no sheep comments about my current ride please. It thumps and scoots and, since I'm vertically challenged, I can touch the ground.

Hmmm, I thought you made the sheep comments.

That's ok. I used to ride a nighthawk, way back when. Then again, I used to give "sheep" the finger as I blasted past them on my Ducati. The female version of the mid-life crisis seems to be buying a "Hardley" as my husband likes to call it. Except for dragging the danged pegs now and again, the little ol' sporty has been a fine mount. However, if job situations were to improve drastically, I'd be looking for another bike for the stable. I believe whole-heartedly in the potato chip factor of motorcycles.

So, how about a quick trip down to Automania on Satuday. I could jump in at the exit 103 McDonald's around 2. Don't know of any back roads other than the one to Glendale. Are the gravel/boulders somewhat done falling off the hillsides?

Oh crap! I forgot most of you guys were going to Florence for the Rhody Fest. Well, if anyone is stuck over this way, the offer still stands.

Went the glendale way coming up from Glendale, the roads were iffy.... not as bad as two weeks before but if you use caution you'll be fine... course your not trying to run the corners at 80 on a Harley so....

[QUOTE=nighthawker;1688828]when did you ride a nighthawk? which one?

It was an '83 or '84 and I had it in '91. The 650 with the rectangular instrument cluster and the shaft drive. So, not the hotrod one, but still pretty capable for a first bike. I loved it, then went to live in Guam for a couple of years. Thought I was a hotshot rider and bought the Ducati 900SS when I returned stateside. Nope, not such a hotshot and really a crappy rider on a sweet bike. The sporty and I have been on a really steep learning curve since I joined the ranks of Team Oregon instructors last summer. It's been great and I've been finding out just how much I was truly missing.

So, if I can avoid getting roped into the marble tourny at the fairgrounds, I will be going to GP to drool. I totally forgot about that as well as the rhody thingy. Can't go to Florence this weekend at all. Maybe next year.
