I haven't been around due to thursdays are my wifes day off and well....

Though if anyone wants to know I thought Sonic was a bad venue due to the wind, noise, lack of weather protection. Regardless of Bike or Cage I will not drink any alcohol and being a Jersey boy I think what you call Pizza around here is absolute garbage so Abby's and whatever they make (cause it ain't pizza!) also makes no sense to me. So for what it is worth I'll leave it up to the powers of good versus evil (HA!) to determine the next course of action and do my best to make a few meets before the year is up. Yup I'm the guy with the blue Concours. (thats a kawasaki motorcycle if you didn't know).

Here it is... the only pic from the last bike night...showing the only bike that showed...FAIL! Not saying the TU250x was the fail, but the lack of folks who came even in cages. My excuse was that I was still sick and not supposed to get wet and cold.

Welcome to Rick who came in after work in his cage, and my lovely NCC-1701 makes a rather nice backdrop. The phone cam was set for a night photo since it was so dark, which means that it is right up there with Kirk's camera.

The next one I'm hoping to ride to. I want my vote to be counted! Sonic for one last jalapeno double cheeseburger!

Hey everyone,
I was thinking about my last post and I suddenly realized how 'abrasive' it sounded (for lack of a better word). I hope I didn't piss everyone off because of that; that wasn't my intent. Does everyone hate me now?

Jen, sorry to hear about your mom. And all you mutineers... I have to agree. I don't like Abby's for bike night either. But Sonic is retarded and we will freeze our asses off. This town is pretty much FAIL for cool venues.

Kirk is right about Anthony's / McMenamin's. It's the best hang out in town. And it was Elijah who was banned from Anthony's for walking out on the job after taking an unreasonable amount of supervisory bullshit. According to him, of course. :p

So Gwen, quit farting around and open up a venue. One with a great view, great food, great beer, great waitstaff, great prices (free) and great music (also free.) :D

And my Appalachia is now officially not mine. I still have posession though.

I have been busy with birthdays on BN so I apologize for missing everyone. I hope to see you at Sonic this week. No promises.

EDIT: Thread title and first post edited to reflect location reversion.

Okay, so no one hates me then? Cool. Then I have something else for your consideration. We need to get active on making a decision instead of just posting here and saying we don't like this place or that place. So if everyone is open to suggestions, I have an idea.

Everyone has been tossing out ideas for different locations. Let's make a list of these spots. Then we'll go down the list and try them out. Each week we can try the next place on the list. When we're done, we'll have a good idea of what place everyone likes best, based actually trying it for a night, rather than just debating it online. Then we should be able to decide on a new location.

We can get together this Thursday to discuss it further and make a list of everyone's suggestions, then start on the list next week. How does that sound?

You have a good idea. If Sonic sucks, you should all meet there this week, then ride together to a place you want to try. Then you at least get a little ride around town together. I wish I could be there.

Hey Cascade! McMen is the best hang in town? I remember a bike night there and it was a really small crowd. The only ones who rode were some old hippy and a guy from out of town. I don't think peeps would like it, even though it is all ages friendly and you can have a beer and food inside.

I personally don't care where it is, but I'm liking the idea of everyone going for at least a short ride together... something that we just don't do anymore....

I think we need to bring back the days of meeting somewhere, topping off, and going for a 3-4 hour ride....

Fixed it. Like this, Northern california run. The most fun I've ever had on a motorcycle. Pictures of the actual ride start on page 4 here, Northern california run The video is still in production, but should be done soon.

If we're going to meet at Sonic and ride to another location, what time do we leave? I often can't get there until 6:30, although I'll try to get there at 6:00 this time. But we'll need to wait a while to make sure we don't leave someone behind who can't get there right at 6:00. Also, we should make it somewhere in Roseburg. Since this will be the first time, it might not go smoothly so we should make it easy for everyone, someplace easy for everyone to get to quickly in case someone shows up late. How about McMenamin's? That could be the first place we check off the list, and we can meet at a different place each week until we've gone through the list.

Cascade is the mod here, so he gets to be in charge of keeping track of the list. Then he can take the blame in case it doesn't go well.

I can't do a 3-4 day run, we have llivestock. I would imagine that those with real jobs probably can't do that either. However, next summer, we need to figure on an In-N-Out Burger run. If you don't want to run several hours each way just for a burger, then don't. If you don't mind doing a long ride for any stupid reason then come join in. Time and date to be announced later.

I have a really flexible work schedule. My wife thinks I'm semi-retired. We did the ride over a weekend. The other guys I went with; one is a manager and planned ahead for a couple of extra days off and the other runs his own business from home. We stopped at In-N-Out Burger in Redding on our ride. It was great!

I would love to have 3-4 days to go on a ride, but with job, kids, school, girlfriend, just finding time for a 3-4 hour ride is laughable....

Speaking of which, I won't be there at sonic this week, get to see the girlfriend for the first time in about two weeks and I doubt she would be ok with me taking a couple hours away for that..... she hates bikes.... especially mine.... lol

Think she'd like mine better? We could switch for the evening. Or would she have a problem with you and a fat old lady switching motorcycles? (Some folks get the weirdest connotations about motorcycles) Or do you think riding an American bike will ruin your image? Oh, you guys probably want some privacy... I've been married for almost 14 yrs now. What do you need privacy for?

Yeah, that's the place. Plus I didn't think flying helicopters was ever work. Don't you get paid to play?

About getting my little cafe started. Do you guys think it can be done with that $6000 grant they've been advertising? Somehow I doubt it. Something to think about. If I can get it started, can I borrow Jen's garage wall art, till I get some memorabilia in the place?

She hates bike in general, and hates mine especially because I ride it. It could be any bike and she would hate it more if i was on it...

she is just not a bike person, will let me keep mine just doesn't care to discuss it.... ever. One of these days I'll get her talked into going for a ride but not any time soon.

I think I would like her on mine better, more crotchy and she'll need to hold on tighter and sit closer....

You might like it better, but in the sake of trying to convince her that it isn't so evil, you might want to give her a more secure seat. If not a Harley with sissy bar, at least something with a fairly flat seat and a bumper to the rear. Sitting up high like that on a sport bike isn't very secure if she isn't already into the prolonged hug. Been there, done that and prefer having the bars myself, thank you.

Ok, better yet, get her to try riding for herself. Then you can go out together, to, I don't know, maybe bike night?

Hey, there are other bikes out there with sissy bars too. Though I really haven't had any issues with my high mileage '05. HD's don't really deserve the reputation they earned thirty years ago. Plus, I've seen dumb asses on just about every brand of bike and type, so the all HD riders are idiots line is no longer true too.

So, just trying my hand at some relationship counseling. I'll stop now. I personally like having the things that I do with my husband and the things that I don't do. Bikes are definitely in the latter category for us. He tried it and hated it, but understands that I love it.

Hey everybody,I posted a poll on BN location, please vote!!

Jason, the Sabre offer still stands,it'd be VERY comfortable for her on the back...I'd let you use the SafetyWing, but I don't want to spoil you, your bike would seem small,crude,rough-riding,and insignificant afterwards...

I've gotten slowed down a bit with the flu and stuff. However, we are over 11,000 and approaching 12 of my miles. It was pretty high on the clock when I bought her a year ago last April Fool's Day.

Anyway, yeah, they do pack lot's of gear with very little change in riding. It will teach you really quick not to two-finger brake though. I've had the kid and over 100 lbs of camping/overnight gear on it and the quick stop was the only thing negatively effected. So, they don't corner worth beans, your feet get their before the rest of you does, they have a cult following, but... they will happily pack you, another person and just about the kitchen sink, as far as you want to go. The newer, rubber-mounted engines don't even require a kidney belt.

If I could convince the hubby to let me have another bike in the garage, I'd love another Nighthawk. They can lean over further without dragging things.

The bike is approaching 37,000 which I was told was high for an '05 sporty. I got yelled at for buying such a high mileage bike when the local dealership could have gotten me one with less. (back when they were in town) What can I say, I was a sucker for the puppy nobody loved, tucked in a corner and hidden...

Yep, it's bad when I go to the pound too. However, I have no regrets about the silver sow rescue. It has really helped me to grow as a rider and build my confidence back up. too many years off after having a bike that I wasn't ready for. Now, I feel like I'm more up to a bike that can lean around corners, but will always want to keep the "mule" for those long hauls.

So, bike night... Let's everyone at least try to make it, even if you have to bring a picture of your bike.

Hey, all. Haven't posted all summer, been out playing in the sun, riding nearly every weekend. If we are going to meet we all need to know when and where. I agree with Gwen, Johnny's is cool, GOOD FOOD, not chain restaurants. If we EVER want to try a breakfast thing, Canyon Cafe in Canyonville is very cool, Good food, Great staff, in or outdoor seating and I said I'd bring a few friends someday. Bandit and DR the only bikes up right now, BURNED the tires off the GSXR. I'll check back for time & place. C-ya'
