But hey, the kid is taking the class, and knows how and where to use an apostrophe. So, some credit is to be given. Except, if he doesn't have money to fix the car, what kind of bike is he going to get and what is he going to fix it with? The Seca is a great bike, but no bike is all that great if they aren't maintained, and that costs.

He does? There shouldn't be any apostrophe there, and the adjective is improperly capitalized.

(Don't mind me... I'm just being a nit.)

You're right. I always forget the possessive "its" doesn't need an apostrophe, but other possessives do. What really gets me is when folks use the apostrophe for plurals. AAAAGH!!!

Ok, so back on topic. What makes him think he can afford a bike if he can't afford to maintain his car? I can afford mine only because I teach a weekend or two every month during the T.O. season.

And good on him (her?) for doing so. I'm taking it right back there too.

So.. on this apostrophe thing, Gwen:

My favorite is when you might see something like the following on a hand made sign or something (or not a hand made sign LOL) --

Cookie's..... $.99
Cupcakes....$.75
Brownie's....$1.50

so what ARE your needs??? and why do you feel like a water bag? that bike kicks ass!! its not your everyday run of the mill sheep-box bike. it stands out and looks bad ass on the road(especially during talent competitions )... how is it not what you need? and so a different bike.. different is far better than none no matter what you ride. two wheels is two wheels. what are you needing? or think you need? or wanting??

that is exactly why i wrote "sheep-box" instead of just sheep. i of course wanted to be all inclusive. as you know.. same same.. a sheep bike and a box bike are one in the same.

Quite alright, and proper, for you to use a masculine pronoun in that sentence, regardless of my sex. You see, English defaults to masculine tense; all this crap about political correctness has just served to bastardize our language. However, you would have been correct to assume that I am a man.

Nighthawker, have you decided to sell?

The service sucks, but I'm game. Also, I schooled the lady on some driving directions I overheard her giving another customer. LOL. I'm mean.

EDIT: Missed the part about Casey's. It was the cafe at Diamond Lake Lodge.

You could start at the Snooze-Review.I find it unbelievable that some of the "journalists" that are hired for that paper actually have degrees...

Probably doughnuts...I guess that really has nothing to do with menus,it's just that people that make their living with the English language should have a much better command of it than some of the staff there...Just a pet peeve of mine...

BTW,in your original post you mentioned a "tire business",are you becoming a tire dealer? If so,Lauren Young on Stephens in Roseburg is selling a tire mounting setup...It's out in front by the sidewalk...
