Gas is going up again!
$2.55 at Loves and $2.67 at the coast in Coos Bay today. WFT!
The wife and I ran out to Coos Bay and the gas was up! Granted this is not the speculation of last year when the prices were up over $4.00 but WTF. I think everyone should be calling their congressmen and tearing them a new asshole for this. No excuse for the raping we took last year and damn if I'm gonna have it happen again this year. SO make a phone call, send an email DO SOMETHING! (before paying up the ass for it ....again......)

Just read today, "Demand is down, supplies are high, why the price increase?" One other little tid-bit of info, BP was the corporation that had the highest profit last year, worldwide. Hmmmm, go figure. It would appear that the price of gas is truly motivated by greed, the traditional increase each summer and how much the consumer will bear. So, don't pay it through the nose at the pumps. Geesh, someone called Harley riders sheep... How about the millions of people that fork out billions of dollars with moaning and groaning but little else?

That's because they can't gouge us on the price of heating oil right now. During the cold months, heating oil gets raped. During the summer, the heaters get shut off, and all the families drive to Wally World to see Marty Moose. So they jack up the product that sells.

Oil companies are just as bad as auto makers. They are the world's biggest assholes.

I can't remember which company it was, but one of them showed record profits last year. That really pissed me off until I saw their sales vs. revenue. Their profit margin is really rather small, in the range of 8-10%. For clarity, other products like motorcycle helmets or riding gear goes for upwards of 20% profit.

It always gets to me until I remember that we live in a free market economy. They have a product that everyone wants, the supply is dictated by OPEC nations, among other things, and they are selling it for a fair price. Remember, OPEC nations cut production during the highest demand months. During those summer months when gas was $4.00/gal, those oil companies profits were more than likely even smaller than the 10% for the overall year.

I mean, raw material prices go up, but you can only pass so much of that on to the consumer. As a manufacturer of goods, you know this and tend to gouge a little when they are cheap and suck it up when they are expensive.

Just my two cents.

Oh ya, and how many people actually drove significantly less last summer? I work with people who drive 30 minute highway commutes in jacked up F-350 diesels getting 7-8 mpg. Those guys didn't take their wife's car to work when prices rose.

Everyone is always so quick to blame the oil companies.
HELLO! Record sales = record profits!
You want cheaper gas? Use less.

Go ahead and send your letters and emails. Oil companies are the most powerful entities on the PLANET.
I was a plaintiff in the EXXON Valdez oil spill lawsuit. Its over after 20 years.
Do you know the result?
Did you even hear about it in the mainstream media?
No?
With a Big Oil President and VP, plus the richest most powerful companies on earth, of course you didnt.
Just try not to think of this shit while you drive your plastic car/bike on asphalt roads, wearing your synthetic clothes, getting your food that came in plastic wrap (3-4 times in processing) at a store/restaurant with plastic everything.
Pay with plastic.

Who you gonna write anyway? a Senator? LOL Oil gave him $100,000s to get elected. He aint gonna piss in his coffee!

I know get a electric car/bike !
No, the mining, processing, shipping of the necessary minerals to make their batteries, plus the processing, shipping of said batteries to the manufacturer of said vehicle causes more pollution, burns more fuel, than my clapped out 79 Ford 3/4 ton 460 v8 pickup uses in 2 years!
Go write your letter.
Make ya feel good.
Hug a tree when you are done.

This is actually very true. Coal mining is the second most deadly job in America (the world maybe?). Batteries=contained toxic waste dumps. Hell, the process involved to make photo-electric cells is horrible!
