| Licensed Joined: Dec 2009 From: orygun I Ride: AMERICAN IRON!!!! | Where do DIYers take antifreeze and ATF for recycling in Douglas County? I've got antifreeze and ATF to get rid of. The dump only takes motor oil. Who takes this stuff? I can't be the only one changing my tranny oil and coolant? |

But the Antifreeze is another matter. Google, or call your local stealership and see what they do with theirs. They might be able to point you in the right direction. |

ATF - take it anywhere that disposes of motor oil (any auto parts store, any oil change place, any dump). |

I asked at the dump if I could dump it in the "motor oil" tank and they said "NO". True? Antifreeze: I've been told it degrades in air and to just dump it on the ground, but I'm trying to be a good guy and do the right thing here. I know a tire store that fills tires with antifreeze so he may take it. I wouldn't let him fill my tires with it because I have animals and I got sprayed the last time I changed a tire. |

DO NOT dispose of in a storm drain that dumps directly into a stream, river, or lake. Bad ju-ju. ATF is more flammable than motor oil, so that may be why they weren't willing to take it at the dump. Most places (O'Reilly, for example) will dump it directly into their sealed oil recycling tank, along with brake or power steering fluid, and any other low flash-point petroleum-based automotive liquid. |
