Hey, Gwen. Ya' if you put miles on your bike, then your'e not a poser. And if you ride the Duc, then I can see past the cruiser. Also, I am the still proud owner of a 1983 Honda 650 Nighthawk. Just can't justify selling it. Great seeing the Ladies riding. Teacher, Teacher, I declare...do your students know you're a "biker"???

I tend to ride rain or shine and go anywhere there's a road. I think a wet 40 degrees is my bottom limit for cold, until I get the heated vest and stuff.

I am a school teacher for my real job and a new Team Oregon instructor for fun. However, I'm a much better rider now than I was when I started the instructor stuff. I've been riding off and on since '91 and that was with an '82 Nighthawk 650 (miss that bike), a '93 Ducati 900SS and a '94 DR 350S. The Sporty has helped me regain that confidence that I used to have with the old Honda. It sure is nice to find a bike that fits both physically as well as emotionally. (hint - I am vertically challenged)

Someone said something about cruisers with 22 miles on them and posers. Well, I've had the sporty since April Fool's day last spring, and I've already put 4,000 miles on it. Don't have the fancy leathers and stuff, but I'm out there on the road, with a big S#$t eat'n grin!

Gwen
Welcome Gwen, I'm a T.O. instuctor from Medford, Good group of people here, enjoy.

Smile Intro, yo.
Hey all. I'm Ashley- some of you may know me? I'm one of the few girls proudly proclaiming I know how to ride a bike. No, I don't ride motorcycles- I'd like to someday, but for now, I ride my quad..the love of my life My one tried and true hobby has always been and will always be riding my bike. Rain or shine, cold or hot, you can always count me in. I am working FT and going to college to obtain a degree in Dental Hygiene. I have an awesome boyfriend who rides far better than I do- a true stud. I'm slowly catching up, no doubt. So, I ride a tricked out Honda 400EX (it is possible). It never fails to turn heads- so don't be a hater. I enjoy racing on flat track drags and dirt tracks for points & money =) I will only wear Fox- and always stay loyal. If you have ever gone to the Camas Fun Days- you will recognize me- as I seem to be the only girl (brave?) enough to drag it. Hit me up- maybe we could pull off a riding group?

Take care~

Hey Roseburg. I'm John and I lived there from '88-'92. Joined the Army in '92 and got to see the world for 8 years. Came back to Oregon when I left the Army in '00, and now live between Seaside and Astoria. My parents are still in Roseburg, so I'm down there every few months or so. I had my R1 down there last summer and wish I could've met up with some of you for a ride. I'll keep watching this thread and try to meet up with you guys when I'm there. If any of you make it up to the north coast, let me know, so we can meet/ride up here. You guys have some fantastic roads and awesome summer riding weather.

Thanks for posting in our sleepy forum, John! I rode today, the first dry day in a while. Well, sort of. Saturday there were a ton of riders out but I was snow-bound with my kids in the Suburban.

Cheers.

Saturday: PNW Riders at the show

Howdy, Most of my information can be found in my profile. I live in Creswell but for day rides I like to ride North Douglas Co. roads. Just feels much more rural than around Pew-gene. Fell off my DL 1000 turning around on snow and broke 4 ribs Jan 2nd. Couldn't stand not riding in the nice weather so last Thurs the 15th rode to Tolleys for Chocolate Silk Cake and a cup of coffee. I didn't want to venture into frostie areas but did ride Metz Hill and Green Valley Rds. Tons of good roads down that way. North Bank, Coos Bay Wagon Rd, Umpqua-Tyee, 42-S and much more are regularly rode by me. I also have a DR 650 so explore the gravel and not so paved forest roads with that, haven't rode it since my get off because I don't want to re-hurt my ribs. But I'll get back to exploring soon. I'm trying to lay out a route from Tillamook to Gold Beach and so far have a good start on the section from Alsea to Elkton. Next'll be Elkton to Powers so could use some local guidance there. I'll post up when I'm headed out that way.

Mike, welcome! I've at times wanted to try out a DL but never quite warmed up to the stying. I'll still try one out.

Post up anytime you're doing a ride and maybe we can meet up.

I came from a 1200 Bandit to the V-Strom. My knees were starting to hurt on longer rides from being bent over 90 degrees for long periods. I needed a bike with a longer peg to seat height. The only ones that fit well were the adventure type bikes, non of which are terribly attractive IMHO. The Suzuki price point was the final decider, so far I'm very pleased with it.
I'm laid off so can ride most anytime tho to be honest I'm more of a fair weather rider these days. Stay in touch and we'll ride together soon.

Nice to meet you
Hello,
I live in Myrtle Creek area. My ride is a '04 FLSTC.
I have not been riding as much lately due to the cold weather. (This is my first winter that I am not riding much.) It seems there are not very many cruiser riders on this forum, but sounds like you are all friendly people.
Nice to meet you.

Hey, Mike(Oremike). What's up? Those are some nice photos you took in Yachat.

Hi Takkamaki, good to see you here. Did you survive the lay offs at the Casino? I'm still looking for work in all the wrong places when the weather is nice.
Right before I got laid off I bought a new Sony A-300 camera so I'm enjoying learning to take good photos with it. Now if I could just find someone to pay me a ridiculous salary to ride my motorcycle and take pictures I'd have my dream job. Stay in touch my friend we'll ride together again I'm sure.

Hey all, finally signed up here. I'm Josh, I grew up in Roseburg (Winston) and still spend quite a bit of time down there (live in Corvallis now).

I ride an '82 CB900F and have a tagged XL250R that is off the road at the moment. Look forward to getting my bike down to the 'Burg a little more this spring / summer, good to see that there are some folks from down there posting up on this board.

Later.

Your bike in the avatar brings back memories for me. My brother had an '81 CB750F when we were both going to Arizona State Univ. One June we rode his bike together (2 up, we were poor college students) from Tempe, AZ to Roseburg in 2 days. What a crazy ride! My parents live in Roseburg and we were going to see them during the summer.

We left wearing shorts and sandals. T-shirts were in our packs and no helmets. It was 110 degrees in AZ. We didn't use slabs cuz that was boring and hot. We took roads through the Sierra Nevada Mountains. By the time we got to Lassen National Park, we were frozen and had to stop to buy coats and gloves. We kept changing rider to passenger to let our hands thaw. We even had to backtrack several times due to roads closed by snow in June! We each walked bow legged for at least a week after that trip. A month later, the memory of pain in my a$$ was so fresh, I went back to AZ by Greyhound Bus.

We were nuts to take the trip as unprepared as we were, but now looking back, I know it was an awesome experience. I wish I could have a bike like that just for cruising around town. That was a great bike and the memories of riding it had a lot to do with me getting back to riding after over 20 years.

Hey all. I haven't been on for a while and havent ridden much. Hey Oremike, we got stuff in common like North Bank and CBWR and a DR650 and a Bandit 1200S. I'm definitely interested in exploring on some-paved-and-some-not roads. That road to Powers is one twisty bitch. In fact, that DR is the only bike I've had out of the shop since the snow fell. PM me with time & day and your route to Elkton.

If you ride around the Roseburger, you have probably seen me. I am always out, rain or shine.

Do you have a picture of the bike? My brother and I rode an '81 CB750F (2 up) in college from Phoenix, AZ to Roseburg to see our dad. It was a fun ride with temps at both extremes and lots of memorable roads. I love to see those bikes now just for the nostalgia.

My mom lives in Sutherlin, so maybe I'll get to see it sometime when I'm there. I'm hoping for a chance to ride my bike to her house this summer by going down the coast to Reedsport then cutting across to Sutherlin.

I just looked and realized I already told the story in this same thread on Post #61. I guess I'm really getting old now. I'm starting to repeat my stories. I guess I'm really getting old now. Josh,

I meant to ask you how long you've had your bike. There was a guy selling one several months ago and I toying with buying it. I wondered if it was the same one. I love those. It was the same color as yours. I think they're badass.

What a shame it took me this long to find this forum....

My name is Jason and decided I bought my 2008 Ninja 650 on impulse for my birthday last Oct 15th. Since then I have been riding and modding the thing and have had the time of my life. I have seen tons of people riding and may have been seen a time or two. I took a ride to Grants Pass April 4th and got several compliments on her. I'm always up for a ride and hope to meet alot of you, and especially see and/or help out on that Ninja 650 street fighter I read about some posts back...

I was looking for a digital gauge for a z1000 as I'm thinking of doing a swap since the plugs match up.... that led me to the sportbikes website, and i saw they had an Oregon forum, went in there and read about pnw and finally ended up here... Better late than never... Too bad your tireless, it can't get any better to ride right now...

this was taken today at stuart park... How this for representin lol

It was the group Bikers for Christ, they went and prayed for each individual rider and bike... I'm not all that religious but figured it couldn't hurt... Great bunch of people though... didn't mind I was the only sport bike there...

I Ride: to be determined
Love being the only sportbike, LOL. Glad you represented. I was going to cruise by but by the time I made it that way everybody was pulling out.

Maybe with a bit more activity on here than in times past, we can get some bike nights or something going. Spread the word. Some guys in Portland and Washington pack around a bunch of PNWRiders.com stickers. They hand em out to other riders.
