New "work" bike?
Woodburn PD replaced all of their bikes this month. No more HDs but black Kawi Concorse 1400s are in our town now. I think there are 3 or 4 of them for a town with 25K people.
Besides, bike cops in Woodburn suck - if your pulled over you will get award. Dont ask how I know.

Oh stop you guys.

Pull up those little boy pants and get back in the saddle,,,,all is not lost. Think about this if you close your mouth you're almost completely waterproof! Give it a try.

Keep your mouth shut and ride!

Every year I hear the bulk of riders complain about the rain and put their bikes away with very few being year round riders. Heck I've had my ZX in the snow

A little bit extra maintenance and TLC and a little bit more attention to technique and the road and rain riding can teach a rider a great deal. Provided you have rain proof riding gear to keep you reasonably comfortable, I recommend it to everyone.

Don't let a little rain stop you from being a better rider and having some fun, just be careful.

P.S.: Except snow... Pilot Powers and Corsa IIIs suck in the snow...

I have been looking to extend my riding season. Mostly because I cringe at the fuel mileage my truck gets. Plus, the motorcycle is just more entertaining to commute on.

Though, the gear part has me irritated. I don't mind riding in the rain at all. BUt doing so, and going back and forth to work, means you need the appropriate gear. I've been trying to find something that doesn't require me to have to use the crappy nylon raingear that would keep you dry. The lack of most manufactures, putting some kind of device on the arms to keep the shit from flapping around is bothersome.

Has me baffled at the moment. Most of the time I wouldn't care if I got a little wet or not. But since it's too and from work...being dry is paramount.

Hmmm...

I see more scooters out in the rain then I do bikes. Its sad really. Were PNW riders. It rains in the PNW, if you lived here all or most of your life you should be used to it. Get the vagisil and get out and put some rain miles on those bikes

I don't like the reduced protection from leather, but I've been using a full upper/lower set of Frank Thomas textiles to keep me dry. My boots haven't given me any problem though my hands do get wet through my riding gloves since I haven't bought a proper pair of poor weather gloves.

I also wear them looser then leathers so I can fit regular and even extra clothing under them. But as long as I do I'm comfortable without heated assist down to about 40-F in the rain.

I only stop riding when it starts getting down towards the 32-F mark. Cold tires are bad enough, cold tires on ice can be frightening and I've had the misfortune of finding it before, though thankfully in all my time I've only had one low speed low side. But really, with proper care and some extra attention rain riding can be quite enjoyable and a good learning experience.

We should have some rain rides one of these days.

I have always loved the adds that say "never seen rain" or "never ridden in the rain",,,,are they just wimps?

^^Does rain cause issues which somehow diminish the value?

Tourmaster makes some good textile gear that has "waterproof" liners. Though you learn nothing is really ever waterproof, just different levels of water resistant.

For what it's worth, black ice tends to form around the 39 degree mark. So if it has been really wet or humid, be cautious when it starts to dip below 40.

As for riding in the rain, it does help with skills building. You just need to remember to give your self more room(time) with braking, set your speeds up before entering the corner (not during) and pay more attention to surface appraisal (wet leaves suck!, painted lines suck!, wet manhole covers suck!, etc....)

Yes Todd and Tim, I used "manhole" in a sentence that wasn't dirty!

Ride safe!

Wow
This was the wrong way to send a message to a few rider buddies! I put this out because we were going on a three day ride a month ago and where we were headed was freezing temps and rain in the forecast. I ride all year and I cannot believe what some of you have posted. Sweet replies, late
