Wooden Nickel In Sublimity @ 10:00AM.

There is a thread Detroit - Estacada ride 7/13

Some are going to meet at the Circle K at 9:15 and head over to Sublimity from there.

I'm going to have breakfast at the Nickel!

Hope to see you there!

Hi everyone. I just found this site a couple of weeks ago.

I live in Salem and ride almost every day. I will have to hook up with other riders on one of the local rides.

I definately don't have the newest or greatest in bikes. I have one touring bike that my wife and I travel with. And an F650CS that I use for putzing around on and day rides. It aint fast but it corners just fine. I've managed to put a little over 36K miles on it and its still fun to ride.

Later,
Tom M

Hey Im Andrew. I just bought my first bike couple months ago but then crashed a couple days after I bought it. But I am repainting the bike pretty soon and will try riding again right after I take a couple of classes to advance my knowledge in riding. Hope to meet some of you cool people soon.

Glad to meet you. I am Jim, and ride a Yamaha FZ1. Too bad about your crash; but you are in line with statistics.

If you want to go out sometime I can give you some pointers on how to......oh; no I can't....I lost my credibility May 29th......

Seriously, if you want to go PM me.

Have fun.

bah @ classes. those are safety classes, you just need to get comfortable with your bike, did you take a corner too fast? if you need any pointers on plastic repair, I'm almost done repairing my hurricane which has been laid down 4 times, at least that's how many times the guy admitted too. I can kinda tell you that some of the ideas online work, some dont, i've tried all i could find.

oh, and welcome!

Welcome Andrew,

R6, Lotta bike for your first one.

It's tough to get in but I highly recomend the Team Oregon MSF class.
Most insurance companies will give a discount for graduates of this class.
Well worth your time and the cost is nominal.

Too bad it wasn't available when I started riding on the street.

Yes I am actually signed up to take that class on the 23 of October. I hope it will help me out a little.

As far as the crash. I was heading west on the parkway going about 50mph...just started to turn the corner and hit some rocks in the roadway. Then blacked out...woke up in the hospital and thats all I really remember.

I looked up a lot about repairing the plastics and finally decided just to plastic weld them...they turned out really good and I am happy with them. Got to finish sanding down the filler and get ready for the primer. Next week my friend and me are painting it the stock blue. How exciting!!!

Question Noob!
Im about to get my License and hopefully buy this Red Kawasaki 250 From this nick, who shot me over to the site, so im looking forward to riding with some people around here! i would post a pic but it aint my bike yet..

Still a little scared of hopin' on one of these things that why im gonna get a 250 once i feel comfortable enough on it ill get me the 09 600 ninja monster ed.
so ill be one of the slow people at first, but what can i say never rode one before, super excited to though.

Any one no if Team Oregon will probably help with getting comfy and how to shift? i think thats the only thing im worried about is i have no idea how to shift.. clutch looks a little difficult? maybe not after i use it..

Anyways looking forward to riding with everyone!

Devon, MR EVO VIII

Will have to do that, any one know where the Hillsboro riders go?? I have a Car Club out there, (Team Innovations) and we meet at Speed Concepts every Friday, and I've had a Few PNWRiders role through and chat, couple races in my Motorcycle killing car lol.. (no joke though, I have never lost a race, Especially if i have to put my car in 5th, but race is usually over by 3rd..) So is there any racing, like Legal or non? I've notice a couple Frequent "LEO's" (im guessing that's Police, no idea though) so i doubt it for non legal..

Who's got the fastest bike round these parts?

Any way i can get PNWRiders.com Airbrushed on my Lid??

What does the "P" stand for Portland?

Last one, is 250 way to small? everyone has been laughing at me, but im not afraid to say im scared never rode one, but they tell me once you learn it, you will wish you got a 600 at least.. plus its gonna be my every day ride rain or shine!

Thanks,

Devon

Evo, the 250 is perfect to learn on. "Every" biker eventually gets another bike or two, or three..... It's OK to start out on a 250, and later get another bike when you can afford it and when you want one. The people who say, you will want a bigger bike in a few months are correct, but they are not real bright bulbs in the neighborhood.

You will learn quicker on the 250, than you can on a bigger bike. Start off on a bigger bike, sure you can do it, but you will be a retarded rider in 6 months, and behind the learning curve. And, why not get the drops and mistakes done on a 250, so by the time you get a bigger bike, you will be far less likely to mess it up.

I started on a Ninja 250. I still have it. Rode it around a few days ago and gave it a good workout. It's really really fun to ride. I have a new bigger bike too that is fun to ride. And in a few years I'll get another bike. Everybody does, and by then, I will want one and will be able to afford it.

Thanks for the place to share Beans. I like that name !

I'm a new rider. My passion is going places, taking pictures along the way. I retired from working for the State, specifically to ride a motorcycle. Now I am.

Over time, I'll enjoy meeting up with riders in the Salem area. I'm still laughing inside from last Oct. or maybe early Nov. when some rider on a yellow bike passed me on South River Rd.. He must have been going 90 or a 100. Made me smile, 'cause that's the kind of stuff I'd do. I was out adding break-in miles on my new bike, the Suzuki. So, I was doddling along, speeding up, slowing down, working the gears and revs.

Yes, I'm selling my Ninja 250R. What a great learning bike it has been. I took it all over in Oregon last summer. I gave it a workout last Saturday, and it's still as much fun as when I first got it.

ya know, I have said "yellow bike"

Kinda looks like it. The rider paused briefly looked back as I puttered along, traffic dragging behind, then the rider continued up on a street to the right outa sight.

Nice looking bike.

River Rd. South lends itself to a nice ride when there's not much time to go anywhere else.

90 or a 100 is that all?
Couldn't have been Baystr.
Now if you had said 90 or a 100 and passed you in a corner on the outside, then upon completing the pass did a wheelie........................................... ..................................
THAT MIGHT BE BAYSTR!!!!!!
