Respro Foggy Breath Guard

Bought one. Using it in my Arai Quantum II.

So far: I TRIED to fog my visor through it while stopped in a parking lot and got only a very slight hint of fog. Very very slight. While moving, nothing.

My only complaint so far is that on the Arai it blocks the vent in the lower part of the chinbar. This means that the vent in the chin pushes all it's air straight up the visor itself, both good and bad. Good cause it means that there's almost no way that baby is fogging thanks to the additional airflow, bad in that it means a lot more airflow so those with sensitive eyes might have to adjust the vent or close it entirely.

Basically this sucker seals across your face with a noseclip keeping it close over the nose and back to the cheeks and that keeps your breath from getting to the visor in the first place.

For $22 at any Cycle Gear (black, I think the carbon fiber pattern one is more) it's a steal compared to wiping stuff on your visor or paying for Fog City inserts that mean you'll have to replace the entire visor later.

I'll update this as I get more miles on it, if needed, but it rocks so far.

Thanks, Good write up!!!!! I forgot I have a simular one...I like to play "top gun" when using mine. I truely hate a fogged up visor... esp in conjunction w/ fogged glasses too!!!!!! I think the thing I remember most as a kid on the coast, was fogged up glasses!!!!!! Less trees over here to run into.

I put one in my Arai Astral-X a few weeks ago and after getting it positioned just right and the nose piece adjusted it has been great. Can't get the shield to fog at all even at really cold temps.

I had fog-city shields and they did not do it for me. They developed a coating or film of some kind and could never get clear.

Foggy FTW.

I've been wearing mine all winter and can't say anything bad about it. It simply just works, and after a few days of wearing it, you can't even tell it's there.

I got mine at Ducati Seattle.

Metal inside is it not? It bends like it's got something other than plastic inside there....

I've been fighting w/ one of these for about a month now, in my Icon helmet ...a quick fix for those air vents...buy some swimmer ear wax and stuff inside part of the vents with to really seal it

So uhh...

How do you all get your helmets off w/o the thing turning inside out and trying to hurt you in the process?

I look like I pissed off a girl and she scratched both sides of my head.

I hook my finger around the nose clip and pull it away while I take the helmet off. Man the first time I took it off though... I left a huge scratch on my forehead. The foggy is not without its downsides.

As far as I can tell yeah. The instructions suck donkey balls.

It's not rocket science either way.

Velcro, velcro, velcro.

Pull straps over side velcros to hold them in.

It's just when I go to take the helmet off, the mask wants to go too...the nose part folds in on itself and in the process presses against the top sides of my head and they're bright red.

I done did tried it 5 times now...

That's what I'm talking about ^^^

So you open your visor everytime you pull your hat off? And stick one hand through that opening and use the other to take the hat off?

Sounds like a PITA to me.

Try loosening up the nose clip a little so it doesn't grip on you? It should rest on you more than pinch at all. I just roll my lid forward a little as I pull it off. I don't even have the stickied velcro patch installed on the chin and I'm having no problems. It does pull down a little but it's sure not leaving marks on me.

Guess we'll find out how it goes...if you see an ad in the classifieds section for one, you'll know whether or not it kept on hurting me (and in the bad kinda way)

Lose the freakishly large Ted Danson-esque forehead?

Seriously, try moving it so the clip is as far up your nose as possible by moving the front velcro down and the side velcros back and up...hard to describe really.

An easy way to get close is to position it on your nose and then have someone hold it there while you gently slide your helmet on. Once you have the helmet where you want it, push the velcro into contact with the helmet pads so it will stay put. With some minor adjustment it should be where you want it. (That entire paragraph sounds like one big "Yo mama" joke...)

Regardless, the down side is negligable compared to the ups, IMHO.

Yeah - it's not too bad. I use both hands on the front, and pull it off my face with my two index fingers while pulling the helmet off. The alternative of riding around with a foggy visor sucks.

I bought a red Foggy mask about 4 weeks ago. I used it in my Arai Rx7 on only one ride so far and it really works well. When its really cold out, I use my HJC with a Fog city insert and a Baklava and that works well also.

A balaclava does more for the look, but makes fog worse.

Hm, Guess I didn't pay that much attention. Figured it had a metal band in it cause of how it reshaped. Meh, I'll change it in the post.

So is mine...

Just from past experience with masks I guess people would assume it's metal or has a metal strip...

My update:

Learned to take the helmet off without causing myself harm.

This thing is fucking wonderful.

I would recommend it to anyone.

I haven't opened my visor once (it's been in closed and locked position) since I put it in, and have had 0 fog.

This...is...the...shit.

Every helmet should come with this stock.

Another huge for the Foggy mask!

I run one in my Arai RX7 and it goes in no fuss no muss and works awesome. I also have the dirt-bike style one in my Arai XD, but it doesn't work quite as well. That may be because the XD chin bar is a lot shorter than a traditional dirt helmet, so that may cause fitment issues. It still helps though, just not as well as the full-face street version.

With the combo of the Foggy Mask and Windstopper neck sleeve thingy, I stay warm, dry and fog free all winter.

Looks promising. If I put one in w/ the in-helmet Chatterbox setup, does it get in the way of the mic at all?

Yes.

It goes over the entire chin bar...so where your mic is velcroed down would be covered by the foggy mask.

You could either cut a hole in the mask, or try to affix your mic to the neoprene.

I thought about cutting a hole in the mask for my Interphone...but I think it may render the mask useless...

Someone cut a hole in theirs and report back if it works or not please.
