Shoei Pinlock Shield install and review
I just installed a pinlock visor on my Shoei Rf 1000 helmet. I LOVE IT! I cannot make this thing fog up at all. I think the system is way over priced but is worth the money to eliminate helmet fog. It was pretty easy to install and only took a couple minutes. The downside to this is that you have to buy a new shield with the pins. If they sold the pins seperately you could drill your visor and install them yourself, but they don't. I guess you could call Shoei and they could send some. I paid $35.99 for the Sheild and $26.99 each for one clear and one dark smoke "anti-fog lens" from www.motorcyclesuperstore.com The pins are eccentric so you can fine tune the position of the lens once you get it installed. I have tried the fog city lens that just sticks to your visor and this is way better. It does not distort your vision and just simply will not fog. Thumbs up from me!

I love mine, and had been meaning to add a review here.

So...

the downside is that it takes a little while longer to change inserts than it would to just change the visor. But the upside far outweighs that for me.

Great post! I use 'Pinlock' as well. HJC has a system out now too.

not sure how something can be overpriced and worth the money at the same time

Then buy a 'FOG Free' insert from Fog City for $17.95 and be happy!

Is the dark lens good enough to eliminate the need for sunglasses?

Yes, the dark lens works well. I hate riding with sunglasses and actually prefer this visor.
