Anyone interested in joining me for The Great Port Townsend Kinetic Sculpture Race? These are human powered homemade vehicles that go through mud, sand, water, and up and down hills. The parade is Saturday, 10/5, at noon, followed by the flotation test. It's pretty amusing.

Meet at Kohls 9:15, KSU 9:30

This will give us time to park, have brunch (hey, I'm a chick - I like brunch ), and watch the parade. Afterwards, we can stick around for the float test or continue on for more riding...or both.

Here are the details on this year:

Here are my photos from last year:

    Note: This is weather dependent.

And note #2: Hey, I just posted my first ride ever! :secret:

Edit: I'll be at Kohl's at 9:15 instead of 9:00.

I would love to join but will be out of town on an annual family motorcycle ralley.

P.S. where's your ride report? I wanna read all about it.

Cool. I've missed this every year. Only seem to hear about it after the event.

Like you say, weather is significant 8)

Will tell a few friends about the race though, sounds cool!

  8. Of all the weekends there are to choose from. And... I haven't had to work a weekend since June. But the weekend of the 5th, of course I have to work. Bummer! I would gladly be a part of your first posted ride. Just look at all the experience you just got leading a really long ride. I hope the weather holds out for you. Have fun.

  10. Well,
Since I'm one of those lucky individuals that have been furloughed. I might make it after all!

Foggy in Bremerton now (0 miles visibility), but the news is showing 10 miles visibility in PA so I think it'll clear out after the bridge. If you're on the fence, come on out!

  13. On my way in 10 minutes.

  14. My daughter, who started riding this summer and has maybe 1000 miles under her wheels, rode the Ninja 500 up to PT for the day too. Said she saw a grunch of other bikesters.

Ended up next to another girl on a Ninja 500 for a bit on the way home.

Sorry I couldn't go. While she rode I stayed home and did a brake job on her Civic.

I like the Cool Dad points though, so it was all good.!

Thanks for the fun day, Jim and Brian! After the storms of the past week, who would have thought we would have ended up sunburned on an October day? Brian, thanks for leading most of the ride. I really enjoyed the route and learned some new roads. Nathan, it was great meeting you too. (I hope I got your name right!)

Sentinel, congrats to your daughter on her ride! I would love to meet her.

Aaaand, here are way too many photos: :)

It was a remote control helicopter thingy (insert technical term here) that was taking video of the event. We nicknamed it the spy plane. Whoever was controlling it was very good.
