2000 CR250 rebuild

Discussion in 'Projects' started by GSXR10HUNERT, Oct 16, 2011.

  1. I bought a very abused CR250 off Craigslist cheap to use as a second bike but after reading all of the project threads, I decided to give it a try. It's coming along pretty slow because I have limited funds for it but when it's done it should be all new.

    The good:
    ASV levers
    billet throttle tube
    Boysen rad valve
    new tires
    new Warp 9 front wheel

    The bad:
    blown rear shock
    leaky crank seal
    jacked up rear wheel
    worn out chain and sprockets
    bent radiator
polished frame I HATE polished frames

These are the only pics i have before I started pulling it apart.

  2. Hey, I had two 2001 CR250's back when I was racing a lot, they were basically the same. Great frame for the 2000-2001. I also hate polished frames, the black powder coat looks good, though. Hell, I jumped the 100' triple at Washougal last year from the inside rut on an old '01, they're still a blast to ride.

  3. Ya I have found that most people that ride dont like the "bro" polished look. I cant wait to get it done but its going to be awhile. I was thinking about having the wheels and hubs powdercoated also but Im not sure. I will have the hubs done for sure.

  4. Very cool -I love these builds...post updates.
