BMW Unveils All-new, Liquid-cooled R 1200 GS

    One thing that's important to note is that the liquid cooling is very targeted to just the components that need it. Makes for a much lighter and more compact system.

    eh, it was all widely known a few weeks ago.
     
  4. I'm all for it, provided that BMW is doing their due diligence on reliability measures. The 1200 oilheads were good engines, but there have been some issues with other drivetrain components, and I fear that the mighty boxer GS's will start to lose their 'bulletproof workhorse' status. Time will tell... definitely sounds like a good idea on paper though.

  6. Actually Av posted on 10/2 about it. But anyway, as I said then, I'd wait for the 2014 or 15 model, let BMW sort all the issues out on the new build.

    Plus some good deals on older non-watercooled GS's should be hitting the market soon :mfclap:

    the difference is that this engine, being a boxer, still has substantial air cooling to certain components, those that have this don't get the water. In a normal watercooled engine, it simply takes a hell of a lot more water/cooling capacity.
