Changing helmet pads

Discussion in 'Motorcycle Talk' started by yaris0128, Jul 1, 2013.

  1. So I have a large vega v-tune helmet and it doesn't fit very well at all. Way too loose. I found replacement pads for it on motorcycle superstore and I wasn't sure what to get. If I got lets say medium pads would that make it more snug?

  2. smaller size pads / tighter fit

bigger size pads / loose fit

so yes, but depends on how much loose, I think each pads are like few "mm" different.

  3. IMO you need a new helmet that provides a better fit. The pads help get a more custom fit but if your lid is too big for your head it can be dangerous. The comfort pads dont provide much by way of impact protection.

  4. Call the store you are buying from.

Some manufacturers use the same shell for multiple sizes. Arai and Bell use a different shell for XS-S, M-L, XL-XXL, and so on. They also list their liners as being different sizes (S,M,L,XL etc), and then thickness (10mm, 20mm etc).

I'm not sure what system vega uses, but if they sell them, they should be able to figure it.
