Friend down in Redmond yesyerday

Discussion in 'Westside' started by donbcivil, Sep 20, 2012.

  1. A friend of mine was riding in Redmond yesterday when a car cut him off
(yeah, it’s hard to see a big guy on a yellow gold wing). He clipped another
car in swerving and went down…a subsequent car drove over him.

He’s stable in the ICU but 13 broken ribs and a punctured lung.
  2. Ouch.....sorry bout the friend

  3. Did the car that caused it stop? Sadly, you're almost better off hitting the offending vehicle, otherwise, they just drive off thinking you are the one at fault.

    Hope your friend recovers quickly.

Best wishes to your friend, I'm glad it sounds like he's going to pull through. People are idiots.
  5. Nope, the one that caused it didn't stop.

Maybe the requirements for having a car license need to be more than having a body temp of 98.6...
  6. Damn. Even if they thought that someone else was at fault, you'd think that they'd stop to help out. That's just cold.

Ouch! Sorry to hear, Don, hope he recovers quickly, but 13 ribs is going to hurt for a while!
  8. Driving without a license, insurance, DUI's, illegal, warrants, and more.

Those who drive like this won't stop just because they hit someone.

I hope your friend will be okay and he had under/uninsured motorist. ICU is pricey.
  9. Shit, that is not good. I wish him/her a fast and complete recovery.
  10. Hope your friend has a speedy and full recovery.
  11. Wow, I'm sorry to hear about your friend. Seems like a lot of people of no regard for motorcyclists lately. Hope for a full, speedy recovery and that he has insurance that will cover all that.
  12. I swear all these wrecks and fatalities lately have me wanting to give up street riding altogether and just stick to track days only. Speedy recovery to your friend.
  13. Tell Jason to get well from all his GWTA Chapter V friends...
  14. man.. sorry to hear that.

I wish you friend a full recovery. I should have read your thread sooner, but with the shit that has happened this year almost didn't. And this is precisely why my R1 is up for sale. Had I been within sight of the hit and run, regardless of which of my machines I were operating. I would have run down the Ass Hat's plate for police. Do they have any leads, might want to post an ad in the paper or call Jessie, and offer a reward. It's extremely rare that something like that isn't witnessed by someone. PS I as I'm sure others would donate to the reward or help the rider fund. Just needs to be set up...AJ
  16. I used to see a yellow Goldwing on 154th NE in the afternoon when I was getting ready to leave work around 3PM on my FJR. I don't remember seeing it the last couple of day and hope this wasn't your friend. My best wishes for a speedy recovery.
  17. Was this on a 35 mph road or so? It amazes me that people dont slow down when they see something happening in front of them like this even if it happens quickly. If people were actually aware of what is happening in front of them I am sure they would have noticed a car swerving into a biker then the biker colliding with another vehicle and going down. That is really messed up that the other driver didn't even stop. Condolences to your friend.

Btw, Redmond is full of TERRIBLE drivers. I blame Microsoft for bringing tons of foreigners here.
  18. Sorry to hear about your friend. I live and work in Redmond, and my bike is my daily driver. I have to say, Redmond is the worst place I have ever ridden in my life, I have witnessed some of the stupidest and most irresponsible things here.

I saw a guy slow down when a deer ran on 520, only to speed back up when the deer balked, and wound up hitting the deer anyways. - stupid

I have been cut off, lane shared - you name it.

The car that cut him off, and the person who then ran him over - Both not paying enough attention to deserve a driver's license, plain and simple.

...kind of sad that there are people willing to giveup a passion because of other terrible drivers. I don't blame anyone who is having second thoughts getting on their bikes out here. There are FAR too many cagers who don't pay attention.

*and a note of the foreigners; the irony is that most of them come from places where more people ride scooters/motorcycles than cars. Figure that one out...(at the risk of ranting and hijacking, I will end my thoughts here)

I've seen your friend around and send my best wishes for a good recovery.
  19. I hope your friend recovers quickly.
  20. Hopes for speedy recovery and also hope the driver of the offending vehicle is struck with a disabling crotch disease that leads to the loss of their genetalia
