GSXR "dealer Mode" and Fault Codes. Please Sticky this Thread

  1. proven to work on all GSXR bikes. Speaker wire was used in the pic, but paperclip works great. Why pay $85-$100 to get your bike diagnosed when you can take it to the shop and tell them what the problem is

Step 1: Remove seat. There is a bolt on each side of the seat, an inch below.
Step 2: (reference picture series below) Locate the dealer terminal. It is described as a six prong, white in color plug with a black rubber dust cap. The plug may be found under the subframe support truss shown in the picture.

Step 3: Remove black dust cap and expose contacts. Now examine wires and locate a black wire that has a thin white stripe. Locate the second wire which is a white wire with a thin red stripe. Now use an insulated wire (speaker wire will do) to connect the black/white contact to the white/red contact. They should be adjacent to each other.

Step 4: With the kill switch selector on "off", turn the ignition system to the start position. The motorcycle instrumentation, headlight and tail light should all be on at this point. Now, flip the kill switch from "off" to "on" to activate the FI system. You are now in dealer mode. "C00" means nothing is wrong.

  2. Cool info a lot of us can use. Thanks for posting.

  3. I did the instructions for the fi test,it reads coo but the light still stays on so something has to be wrong any ideas
  4. blinker fluid is low
  5. vagrant

    vagrant »-(¯`·.·´¯)-> PNW

FYI, the little line "--" next to the code - eg C00 is supposed to represent the alignment of the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor).

The SET valve has been known to throw FI codes for some reason. I never experienced it as I removed mine early on, but it would be worth your time to mosey on over to or the more squidly but just as (if not more) informative Search "FI error code", "SET valve removal" etc.

Not saying its your problem, but it could be.
  6. thanks for the 411
  7. Nicely done great post. The tool that you buy from the dealer is just a little switch.
  8. bump to the top, hope it will help more people. When i removed my exhaust servo motor, the FI light was on constantly. If you have this problem, let me know i can direct you which wire to unplug from the ECU to correct this.

  10. why not use a 15amp mini bus fuse? seems safer to me. lol

Will this cure the F1 (or maybe it's just FI - lol) error code that comes up often?
  11. SET valve issue is very common...can be caused just by poor adjustment of the cables. I used to have the dealer adjust them every time the light came on when it was under warranty. Ever since the car hit me 2 years ago, though, the valve actuator hasn't worked. So, now I just think of the annoyingly bright light as my "bike-is-on" light... :evil4:

This will remove the FI light for the Exhaust SET valve only. Your FI will remain on if you have other problems now or will come back on if you have any problems in the future.

REMOVE PIN #30 5th pin from the end, Brown wire with a black stripe. If you grab the wire with a pair of pliers and pull straight out, the pin will come out also incase you ever want to put it back in.

This procedure also applies to certain other Suzuki models.
I've the fault codes for the C90, but it won't do you GSXR guys any good (only two cylinders.)

  14. Thanks for this post. I was out yesterday with Trunk Monkey and experienced the dreaded light. Instead of going to a dealer and spending a bunch of money, I followed your instructions and found nothing was wrong. As the service manual indicates, it was more likley that the engine temp was running high or oil pressure was running low yesterday. Thanks again.
  15. can you clear the codes after putting in new parts
  16. From what I understand, if you disconnect the battery, leaving it disconnected for about 20-30 seconds, this will reset the computer that keeps track of the codes.
  17. This post has proved helpful. I have figured out what my code was (C40) which is the Idle Speed controller/control valve. Still trying to figure out how to fix this little problem without going to the dealer. If anyone has had this code come up and fixed it, PLEASE let me know.
Also, the FI light only comes on after about 5 minutes of riding then stays on from there. At about 3500-4000 rpms the bike has a little power surge.

  18. GixxerTek fixed my FI light problem. He'd probably know how to fix your other issue too.

    text or email him :spoton:
  19. Crack kills
  20. thanks suomycasino for the procedure above and thanks to KevinD for your help...I have a 2005 C90 and the procedure above worked and yes I made my special tool!
