  1. Just found this site. I have been on Thumper Talk and ADV Rider for a while, was looking at bikes for sale on ADV rider and got frustrated because every good bike for sale was located on the East coast. So, I went searching and found you guys here. And here I am.

I have just gotten back on bikes at the ripe old age of 46. Back in the early nineties I lost four friends and a brother to separate bike wrecks where a cager was to blame each time. Scared me off bikes until this year. Now, I have decided that dying doing something that I love would be a pretty cool way to go, but I'm certainly in no hurry!

Right now my only bike is a 2012 DRZ 400S, pretty much stock cept for seat cover, Knobby and Trials tire and 14T/50T sprockets. I have been commuting to and from work on it lately and the 50T sure keeps me off of the freeway, but proves invaluable off road and going down steep declines in the Mountains. I spend most weekends exploring the many trails around here, but the smoke from the wildfires has ruined the views.

I live in the Boise area so if anyone around here wants to go trail riding, let me know. I ride dirt year round, cept for Dec-Jan when I tear my bike down for maintenance and lock tite fixes.

I'm thinking about buying a used adventure or sport touring bike this spring for commuting and occasional weekend trips. Maybe a V-strom or even a VFR, not sure yet. I have too many payments already to buy new, but the new 650 Vstrom looks sweet.

In the back of my mind, the thought of an old BMW project keeps tugging at me, if I find the right deal.

    Pics of bike below.
