Honda's New Downsized Sport-Tourer

  1. Saw a new bike this week.
    Honda NT700V with a super paint job.

    Shaft drive. Looks like a downsized ST1300.

    No other info.

  4. I saw one in Klickitat a few weeks back. The guy just loved it :) It has a small pass-through between the side cases. It seems like a nice ride.

    I still think it's neat, but there's a very good chance I'm wrong.

    65 HP, 50 Lb feet of torque, 50 MPG.....reminds me of a V-Strom 650 too.

    I hear the same 'power plant platform' is going to be used in a 'Dual Sport' style bike as well.
    The PRICE is supposed to be real reasonable too.

  11. I have always liked the look of the 1989-1998 Honda Pacific Coast, or PC800.

  12. After having an ST1300. No thanks. Honda is lacking in the tech dept. And advancements.

    Go with a V-Strom. A much better platform and proven. There are so many aftermarket items avaliable.

    The NV is more of a "chick" sport tourer to ride along with Daddy. lol You would think that Honda would have the coolest and most cutting edge rides out there with their size and Corp. power. Sorry, too many issues that were never addressed and resolved with the bulky ST1300. Honda up your game!

    The ST had almost zero changes since 2003. And their attempt at the VFR1200? Hmmm. Should have been a busa eater. Instead goofy auto shift and looks like a transformer going down the road.

    Just saying. Much better platforms avaliable to Sport Tour. IMHO.

  13. Is this the one they were going to do the paddle shift/auto tranny on?
     
  14. When the VFR went up in size I think this slots in nicely for the class. Looks like a good choice for smaller riders.

  16. Hah. Couldn't have stated my own opinion better. Those side bags are actually a pass-thru trunk, probly the neatest part. Other than that... well, I love all Hondas
     
  17. I absolutely loved my '89 Pacific Coast, and I'm thinking I might get one of these in the future (if I don't just buy another PC800). It's not intended to be a tourer, but a commuter, and it competes directly with the SV650 in that dept. It seems a bit higher priced, but if you outfit a SV with bags, you're looking at close to the same price. The NT700 has the same big selling point going for it that the PC800 did...very low maintenance. Contrary to Maverick's opinion, Honda intentionally went low tech, reliable, bullet proof.

    Like the PC800 in its day, though, this isn't selling very well. I haven't ridden this, but I have a buddy with one, and if it's anything like the PC800, it's a very agile, easy to handle bike, unlike the big sport/touring rigs. About the only thing it lacks is a cruise control to really make it a good x-country tourer. I rode my PC800 from KS to Everett in 3 days, and could have kept on going! :)

    ummm... have you ridden a newer sport touring bike?
     
  19. I wish they would bring back the VFR, one that does not look like a Star Trek prop reject.
