Longview, Rainier, St. Helens or Astoria. Anyone riding thursday 3-18?

  1. I'm coming off graves and will be looking to ride about 1 or 2. Destination unknown. If you wanna meet up and ride till dusk let me know. I'll check this post from time to time or just shoot me a text. # is on my profile. I don't care how fast or slow you are, I just wanna ride

  2. I wish I could!I have 8 more days until my classes or I would be down!!!!!!!!!!

  3. I live south of Astoria, my kid has a track meet today (Thurs) in Scappoose, and I'm thinking of riding to it. If I get to ride, that will be my destination. Not much fun, but better than driving. I would probably have my wife on back. I might take some of the backroads if I can figure them out to get there. I know backroads from Astoria to Clatskanie, but from there, I only know Hwy 30. If you have a suggestion and know the roads, let me know. My number is in my profile too.

  4. thats funny cause I only know the back roads from clatskanie to scappoosecrackup:crackup:

About what time are you looking at heading out??
( if i dont hear from you, Ill just text ya in an hour or two from now)

  5. Duane, It was great to meet you today. That was a fun ride. Thanks for showing me the backroad to Scappoose. Next time we meet in Clatskanie, we'll have to take the backroads to Astoria or Seaside. I'll talk to you again soon.

  6. Definitely had a blast, just wish that de-icer was all over the roads. I'm thinking we need to plan another real soon. In fact I'm thinking of going west to your area next Sunday, riding two up, along with a few other riders. Maybe catch a lunch on the coast, all weather dependant of course. I would love to have both you and your wife join us. Maybe even show us that lewis and clark route.

  7. Bump bump..... Any planned rides for this coming weekend??? Supposed to be decent weather..

  8. I may be riding highway 47 or something on saturday or sunday....I have another friend with a r6 that wants me to go sunday.I may just go both days.Let me know a time and I may be able to go.I really should go to pro caliber and see if they have some pants though because I feel naked without any. My numbers in the profile.

  9. Well as far as I was taught, if you have no pants, then you are in fact naked... So your feeling is correct.

Ok I am supposed to be working but I have a hard time working when it's sunny, so I'll let ya know

  10. Okay, well I have pants just no "riding" pants lol. I hope the weather stays good! I have not got a nice full day since I got all legal :( it sucks I'm ready for summer.

I just don't want to go down and have my legs shred off lol

love this area you guys are in. LOL yea I'd like to believe you best have good gear on when tackling those back roads, as great as they are there is a lot of hazards out there.

  12. True that. There is always gravel from driveways on the road and unless it's been nice for quite a few days there is water in spots because of the tree cover. But 47 is a sweet road.

Oh and deer semis and idiot drivers lol

  13. Got back from a ride to newport a couple weeks ago, Hwy 53 was quite a bit of fun.

Also, there's a back way over by lewis and clark that crosses the mainline a couple times (my ex used to live out there) and it ties in to seaside by the theaters. Well, it used to tie in there, it's been years since i was on it. But was a great rode at the time.

  14. That road is still there. You can go south from Ft. Clatsop and wind your way down to Seaside. It's the closest twisty road to where I live and I try to use it at least weekly when I'm riding. Hwy 53 is awesome as is the road that cuts from the south end of 53 at Mohler to Garibaldi. That is one of my favorite sections of road that I can reach from home.

  15. we hit camp 18 for lunch and dropped down 53 to 101. If i remember right, we didnt swing south at mohler, rather straight on to 101. I can see some problems during the summer concerning log trucks but the weekends should be nice on that one. Gonna be heading down that way a few more times this summer for sure.

  16. How is 202 looking lately? Thinking about 202 to Jewel, then south to 26 jump up to Else then over to 101 on the Lower Nehalem road. . Coming from Portland heading down to Newport.

  17. Camp 18 is freakin good but it is pretty spendy. I took the girlfriend there for valentines day this year.

  18. was the first time i've eaten there, but was a guys ride... had like 5 others for a couple day ride... can't go cheap on stuff like that. lol

  19. The Miami River Road from Mohler to Garibaldi is pretty smooth. The farther south you go, the better it gets. It has pretty fresh paving at the south end. I've only seen a couple of log trucks there on a weekday and there are pull outs for slower vehicles all along the way. There are some places to pass and I've never been stuck behind a slow vehicle for more than a mile or so. Now, 101 on the other hand, I get stuck behind every RV on the road and never get to go as high as the speed limit. Miami River Road wins every time. I even use it when I have the whole family in the van.

Hwy 202 is really nice from Mist to Jewel. If you turn south at Jewel, it's about 9 miles of beautiful new asphault to Hwy 26. If you continue on 202 towards Astoria, the pavement gets really torn up. I've done it a couple of times, and I always tell myself that I don't want to do it again. I've been on smoother dirt roads.

    If I were going from Portland to Newport, this is what I would do starting at Scappoose;

I've been on all of these roads in the last 3-4 months, and they are all amazing on a motorcycle. There are several more options from Tillamook down depending on how much time you have available. If you're interested, I'll send you a link for more ideas. If I was available, I would come ride them with you. That looks like a lot of fun.
