Wow I thought the thread title was some kind of sick joke or something. R.i.p marco, you were one of my favorite racers and will be missed.
Have to find another video, but it looked like he wasn't moving at all even before the collision, like he had a stroke on the bike or something. Just laying there on his side with the bike riding along like he was in some sort of bizarre cornering posture. Obviously the helmet-popping crash finished him off, but I gotta wonder if something nasty happened first.
I also thought that he was already going down when he collided with Rossi and Edwards. His line and body position were really weird. RIP Marco. It's a truly sad day!
Truly a sad loss. We were watching the race and there was no where for Collin or Rossi to go. His back tire slipped out and he was doing everything he could to save it. My prayers go to his family...Rest in peace Marco
This link should show more of what happened... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_CNAYXbTCE&feature=youtu.be
I agree. Can anyone explain what actually happened? I was watching it last night on Speed and they showed an onboard camera angle that showed him on the paint stripe of a right hand corner when he lost it. He then lowsided and the bike went to the left with him on the right side. However, all the crash videos show him coming from the left (to right) and running into Edwards who is on the right side of the track going around a right corner. How does one lowside on a right corner, go to the left side of the track, and then come back to the right side of the track with the body still on the right side of the bike? Did he bounce off something on the left side of the track putting him back in harms way? Edwards and Rossi were pretty close to him before the crash, must have seen him go down, but didn't appear to see him coming from the side before the impact.
They way I saw it, the slide/drift that pushed him out to the left and made him fall/lean to the right side of the bike, became essentially a low-side. He was basically riding it out, but as the tires regained grip...it sent him back to the right since the bike had rotated from the slide. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BhMhaXo5T-A&feature=player_embedded#!
