    Sorry for the moron question.

I know federal law allows motorcycles ridden just by the driver to use HOV lanes, but states can override that.

What's the dealio here in Oregon?

    Good to go?

Socialist Republic of New York is the only state that I know of, which violates federal law like that...

    OR, WA both ok.

At least on the signs on I-5 in Portland, it specifically states:

    "Motorcycles okay"

My father in law who is a retired New York police officer says that is simply false and they encourage motorcyclists in the HOV lane.

Unfortunately it's NOT false. Documented case and applicable laws documented here. I'm not calling him a liar but his view may be different from others. Apparently some feel it's still not OK or are not aware of the law change. I realize that "blog" is a little dated but it shows that there may still be some issues riding in the HOV lane in NY.

Sorry Tigress, hate to tell ya but was an article (running off and on for almost a year) in the AMA monthly mag about motorcyclists in NY getting ticketed in hov lanes... was on it's way to the way to NY supreme court, last I heard. Judging by the quote, the AMA must have won... :scratchea

NY is also the only state (that I know of) which has motorcycle ONLY checkpoints... not that it's discriminatory or anything :tard: :rant
