why would the city of anacortes shut down a cash cow like the oyster run? is not like people are getting raped & killed during the event year after year which is likely what it would take for them to decide they don't want the income it generates...

if you actually wanted to know why not ping someone on the city council or send email to the event organizers at info@oysterrun.org?

Rumor is: it will be the same ol' shit, different day. Probably another traffic jam, with a couple thousand bikes, similar quantity of overly-leathered costumers, many tents selling things like chinese-made fingerless gloves and dew-rags.

    I can't wait!

Are those guys cool or what? They're all standing around like girls at a prom, sizing-up each other: "Dammit, I thought I'd be the only one wearing black leather this year!"

  5. I'm from anacortes originally and I highly doubt this would ever happen. I haven't heard anything regardless so I'm pretty sure it's not true. All my family and friends live there and I would have heard about it if that was true. So no worries! It's still on :)

  6. fixd. Yeah until someone dies in the city limits during an oyster run, there will be an oyster run. Usually us bellinghammers plan an "anti-oyster run" ride up to Princeton bc the same day to get as far from that as possible. If I ever did go I would drive there and park a few blocks from town.

  11. Of all the people we would think would understand what it's all about, this is the group I thought would I wouldn't have to explain it too.

Okay, the run is a chance for us "Cruiser" guys and gal to get together before the weather goes back to rain mode. I time to reflect on the riding season with friends and share our ride stories.
And, like Strugus, it's not about being at the rally, it's the ride there and the ride home, taking new roads and meeting new friends.

I guess you sport bikers just don't get it, you would if you could ride your bike more then 200 mile at a time....without a massage, 8 hours of sleep and a bowl of Wheaties.

  13. So it rains, big deal. You don't ride in the rain????

Went to one Oyster Run.. That was enough. 8 miles of stop and go traffic just to get into town, bad music played loudly, overflowing port a potties, everyone selling the same cheap Chinese leather goods, and drunken bikers revving their engines to ear splitting decibels. Well, at least it kinda drowned out the 'music'. Even though I have a couple of 'cruiser style' bikes, its not my idea of a good time.

  14. Yea, Ive never seen sportbike groups, BMW groups, Duc groups etc, etc...ever pose in their costumes:mrgreen:

Hmmmm, might want to check that. How far is round trip: Windy Ridge/Seattle? Winthrop? Neah Bay?

If this is posing, then call me guilty.

Wah... we need an excuse to ride to a place, drink beer, and see who has the most chrome or is in the most ass-kicking-ist 1%'er club.

And we sportbikers can and do ride for more than 200 miles at a time. But we don't feel the need to make a big production about it like the bagger guys as if it was some great life accomplishment.

The point of riding isn't to stand around and talk about riding (unless you're on a Ducati at Starbucks... or at the Oyster Run it seems).

I'll be out riding, but not up to Anacortes to get stuck in traffic with a bunch of loud ass Harleys and over-inflated egos.

I have to stop after about 200 miles, but that's just for fuel. Nothing says I can't fuel up more than once (or twice or thrice) a day. :mfclap:

And, at my age it's more bran flakes and yogurt than Wheaties. :nana

  20. Your right, you sportbike guys never dress funny at all....
