A motorcycle rider was taken to Mercy Medical after he collided with a sedan at the Kelly’s Corner intersection just after 1:00 p.m. Monday afternoon. Sergeant Matt Bowersox of Oregon State Police says the motorcyclist was sitting at a red light, getting ready to head north from Roberts Creek Road onto Carnes Road. A truck behind him pulled around and turned right onto Highway 42. Bowersox says the motorcyclist apparently thought the light had turned green when the truck went past him, and headed north into traffic. The rider struck a sedan that was heading westbound into Winston.

Along with Oregon State Police, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Douglas County Fire District No. 2 and the Winston-Dillard Fire District responded to the scene. Sergeant Bowersox says the motorcyclist sustained serious injuries in the accident. Bowersox says the rider was cited for failing to obey a traffic control device and for not having a valid motorcycle endorsement. The driver of the sedan was cited for driving while suspended. Traffic was slowed at the busy intersection while police and emergency crews dealt with the incident.

I can't either. Interesting how neither one should have been operating a vehicle though. Hope he isn't hurt too badly, but does go and fix that endorsement issue.
