Stunters Terrify Beltway Drivers

Discussion in 'Motorcycle Talk' started by Transported, Dec 29, 2015.

  1. Really? You think it takes common sense to block a freeway in order to commit crimes? Yes, stunting on public roadways is a crime.

By being arrogant, self-serving idiots, and causing massive traffic jams they put others at risk. Yes, traffic jams often result in other accidents because people aren't expecting a freeway to come to a complete stop. It happens all the time. Hell we've had motorcyclists killed in just such accidents.

Its a perfect example of thug/mob rules mentality.
    FUCK THAT!

Sounds to me like Norainy should be more picky about who he rides with.
I have watched my friend die on a roadside.
    Its not fun.

Stunters doing their thing in parking lots, or nearly abandoned highways and back roads is one thing, in the middle of a busy freeway commute?

    FUCK THAT!

What happens when one of those fucking idiots going the wrong way on the freeway kills a family?

You can try to justify it all day long.

    You sir, are wrong.

  3. I do not have a hidden, or relocated plate (but many riders move the plate to under the fender).

My point is, the cops won't look at this video with a "no harm, no fowl" attitude. I'd expect the cops in that area to start hassling/ticketing anyone who rides a sportbike. I doubt any of the asshats in the video will be caught, it will be other riders who are penalized for their behavior.

  4. Are you a motorcycle rider or what?
I am always aware of my surroundings, and you tell me people in cages aren't expecting a freeway to come to a complete stop. What the hell? You already said you knew about it.
And then you proceed to tell me it happens "all the time" and still they don't learn? Are you trying to tell me, we should behave to the lowest dumb shit in the crowd?

I do not need to be more picky about who I ride with.
I have ridden with some of the best and that is not boasting. Because I could not carry a handle compared to them.
I have lost more than my fair share of fellow riders, friends.
I don't want to argue with you, other than the fact that you think holding up some petty traffic on a highway rises to this level of condemnation.
If I had the money, I would like to give you a run for it, on the track.
For your information, I have forgotten how to do a wheelie about 30 years ago. I could use some help if you are interested.

  7. Yes, I am a rider. Have been for nearly 30 years. But that has nothing to do with this. Anyone who has spent anytime riding, or driving, on the freeways knows that a blocked roadway will cause other crashes. It happens nearly every commute. Just because I, or you, are "always aware of my surroundings" doesn't mean everyone else is. And why should people in cages expect a non-commute hour freeway to come to a complete stop? The whole point of our freeway system is to eliminate complete stops on the highway. And when did I say I knew about "it"? What "it" are you even talking about? Traffic jams? What?

And again, people who purposely block freeways to do stupid stunts would be considered the "lowest dumb shits (sic) in the crowd". They would also be people who not only lack the smallest amount of common sense, but also personal responsibility and respect for others. So, your defending them and expecting others to simply "wait" for them to have their fun seems to be saying that we should "behave to the lowest dumb shit (sic) in the crowd".

  8. You are getting closer with your reasoning.

What I'm saying has nothing to do with stunters on the road, it's not a good place for it, but your argument further underlines why we should always dumb everything down the lowest common denominator - the idiot - in the crowd. If you can't see that vehicles in front of you are slowing down and stopping, you have no right to be behind a wheel. You are a threat to everyone around you and yourself. Same exact thing would happen if there was a car accident...traffic slows down and/or stops.

  12. Thank you, I guess.o_O

  14. While I agree with you, to some point, the fact of the matter is that most drivers do not drive with "intentionality". They simply drive to get from point A to point B, and many of them may not even be able to tell you details of the trip that they just took. This is more true when talking about people who commute the same road, at the same time of day, every day. Driving, for them, is just an annoyance that they must endure to get things done. Also, adding to the complications are vehicles on the road that prevent following cars from being able to see what is ahead. This is why I hate being stuck behind semi's, minivans, vans, and SUVs. I will do whatever I can to get around them so I have a clear view in front.

The point of all of this is that the roads are filled with drivers that either aren't paying attention to the road around them, are unable to clearly see the road due to various conditions, unwilling to look for motorcyclists, and even many that consider "bikers" either half-witted apes or thrill-seeking, self-indulgent delinquents. So, for a group of "riders" to intentionally stop traffic on a major highway to do stupid stunts, it just adds fuel to an already dangerous fire. If you don't think so, just take a look at some of the comments to a recent video posting on FB when a Jeep driver intentionally enters the middle of a police escorted memorial ride. I dare say the majority of the comments were derogatory towards the "asshole bikers" that nearly got run down and then tried to keep the driver from passing through the group any farther. I can't count the number of comments that said that the driver should have just run them down, because "they don't own the road."

So, if we want to try to get the majority of people to start seeing motorcyclists as "regular people" and that riding motorcycles is a viable alternative to cars, then we need to do what we all keep wanting "moderate Muslims" to do when there is a Jihadist terror attack. We need to condemn this kind of behavior and do nothing to try to excuse it, or defend it as just "harmless fun." Why? Because when one of these "stunting" groups does this and makes headlines, or some kid on a sportbike kills themselves at triple digits on the highway, it reflects back on the rest of us, and makes it harder to get laws passed in our favor, and harder to keep LEOs from "profiling" us.

I had a big long reply.
    Fuck it.
    We disagree.
Those guys are self entitled fucktards.

I ride with THE best riders in the NW several times a year.
Not boasting, just the facts m'am.

  19. As much as i like a stunt show and i do, you all need not get your panties in a bunch. Someone will run them over in an SUV and you'll have your justice.

On a steel horse, they ride.
