Why the animosity????

Discussion in 'Motorcycle Talk' started by Stryker64, May 21, 2012.

  1. So I've noticed several instances of animosity over the last few weeks from some sportbike riders towards cruiser riders. Anytime a cruiser rider wants to set up a meet or ride for cruiser riders they get blasted.

I'm curious why that is? I don't see anybody having an issue with the Enduros' or Adventure Rider's posts.

While I'm a fuddy duddy rider the young Zoomers I ride with haven't had issues with me taking my time and I usually catch up, that way everybody has fun, but this dislike for cruisers wanting to ride with cruisers seems odd. To me so just wondering????:scratchea

ignorant newbs is my guess... two wheels is two wheels. i see the hate come from both sides & i always find it mind bottling.

i pointed out to someone that was spamming the boards with a single ride that it was not nessesary. the type of bike he rides did not enter into my decision to post in one of his many threads tho.

Leigh, I cannot speak for anyone but myself, but, as evidenced by my question to our colleague from Olympia last week, I am just curious as to why someone would want a "cruiser only" ride. The converse would be true if someone posted up for "sport configuration" only.

To me, it's more a question of the type of riding pace or talent level that should be the screen out element. I've seen some cruiser riders that could cook some sport bikers, and I've seen some sport bike riders with much greater control in their riding than some cruiser pilots.

    Just my $.02

Probably because most riders here don't discriminate between the different types of bikes. You don't see sport bikers post up sport bike only rides? Kinda like racism involving motorcycles.

I mean really, if a sportbike wants to go is it really that big of a deal? Likewise, when sportbikers ride, cruisers go too so....

Bottom line is does it really matter who rides what to go on a ride with ya? If you segragate out a certain "group", said group will always bitch. It's inevitable.

Not to worry, likely anyone worth sharing the "Joy" of a ride shouldn't care. I usually end up bringing up the tail regardless of who or what we are riding. When it's all said and done, we are all we have amoungst the cagers who seem to think a rider is nothing more than a bump in the road. I may tease the cruisers at times, but if I was smarter that's what I would be riding at my age; (refuse to admit I'm old). If'n you ever get down the Lewis county way, I know some awesome rides...AJ

The first thing that pops up in my head was a ride that was posted a few weeks by a member on a Marauder 1600. This rider stated that they were leading the "advanced/fast" group on their Marauder, which may have ruffled the feathers of some sport bike riders due to the ignorance behind the post.

    +1 to ignorant newbz.

  9. I don't care who I ride with. I was just curious. I've seen the same kind of thing coming from the cruiser crew on other forums and just think it's odd.

And yes I've asked the same question; however those that are being beligerent usually have some deep seeded psycological issues with control, that's barely hidden behind zoomer rage.

I don't get it obviously. Like I said in my original post... I go the speed I go, if I catch up great if not we can compare pictures when we stop for food!

  10. Personally I could care less what your riding. It's how your riding around me that I would take issue with.

I have and do poke fun at Cruiser riders. But, it's in FUN. Like the real riders have already said above. Long as your riding and doing it in a safe manner around me. Long as you ride is all I care about!

(Except when it comes to loud pipes! Then I'm an equal hater to ALL)

  14. It goes both ways and is perpetrated by simpletons who would rather preen and pose and dream of being a badass on their sportbike/cruiser all the while they are slowly dying inside because at their core, they know they are empty, vacuous, frauds.

  15. Yep, this pretty much sums it up. Someone with a little penis, few friends, bike sitting in the garage with low miles on it.

The great news is, these types don't make it out much. And when they do, they don't have the balls to say it to our faces.

    +1

+1 The main issue is safety, and the pace/skill of the riders. If someone posts a "fast paced" or a "cruise" ride thread, then you must as a rider decide if you want to participate. Have a plan, know the route, and the stoping points. Leave the rest up to the rider and their ability/style.

    They have surgeries for that.....addadicktome.

  17. I hate everybody the same amount,regardless of your bike......Just kidding:mrgreen:

  19. Hmm. I just moved from a cruiser to a sport touring. Yet, I'm still the same asshole I was before.

    This means:
    1. I was on the wrong bike before
    2. I'm on the wrong bike now
    3. I'm still an asshole

    Now I'm really confused...

  20. I ride with everyone, but my buddy that has the 123db (c-weighted slow) @ idle harley... we just make him ride in the back (plus he's the slowest :D) Usually the needling is in good fun.

I only mean the insults towards the cruiser guys who spend more time with their bike holding down the garage & getting polished than it does being ridden... those guys deserve all the mocking they get.

So do the sunny day summer sportbike riders.

If you can't ride with a bit of a rain possibility, you're a giant whining pansy and I want no part in your shenanigans. ;)
