PUYALLUP, Wash. -- A motorcyclist was killed when he was struck by a runaway septic tank truck Friday evening.

The truck was parked just before 7 p.m. near the 12200 block of 151st Ct. E., but then started rolling down 151st without a driver on board, sad Det. Ed Troyer with the Pierce County Sheriff's Department.

As the truck crossed 122nd, it struck a motorcyclist, killing him, Troyer said.

The victim's name has not been released and Troyer didn't have any further details about the crash.

The driver of the truck was cited.

  2. That is right next to my friends house.

  3. Sad accident.

What could have the driver been cited for?

    shitty way to go.

    factorten and blueline15 like this.
  5. Probably negligence.

Damn that's sad. Hope he or she went quickly.

  6. Oh you're going to hell lol...but I laughed.

  7. He kills guy and only gets cited for negligence and failure to control a vehicle. Now if it rolled into a cop car he'd be in jail. Society thinks that our lives when we ride are worth nothing more than roadkill.

  8. Sad but I wonder if the rider was looking around to see what was on the sides of the road - it could have a made a difference

situational awareness can make a difference....

This is very disturbing and sad news. I don't know if I could live with myself if I were the truck driver.

Did the rider have a family?

  10. So he killed a man, had the audacity to lie to police when he was the cause of the accident, and police just give him a ticket? That's fucked up.

  11. Turn left and kill a biker. Get a "Failure To Yield".

    Happen to him >>
Rest in peace Danny my friend.

It all has to do with "Intent".

No way around it....it's very sad and easily avoided.
I NEVER get out of my pick-up without setting the brake, just because.

  12. Too soon.

    disagree.

  14. He felt it until his head was crushed. Rider was screaming until that happened.

  15. I'm not sure what kind of truck this was but if it was a big enough truck with an air brake system then the air brakes apply when air is released from the system. So without knowing the specifics of the truck this may have been a failure due to lack of maintenance.

  16. Was one of those septic pumping trucks.

  17. .
