PGP Supermoto USA Rd 2! June 27 & 28
When: June 28th

Where: New supermoto/kart track, Pacific Grand Prix, at Pacific Raceways.

What: A good ol' round of racing. Come out and ride, its nothing professional, and gobs of fun. Come watch for free (im assuming) or ride. This is a non-WMRRA weekend, so come out.

Tech requirements are:

These requirements are both for big bikes and minis:

1. Drill and safety wire oil drain plugs and filler caps – may substitute with silicon sealant or equivalent.
2. No leaking fluids of any kind; oil, water or fuel.
3. No antifreeze in cooling system; water wetter or equivalent (engine ice) ok
4. Carburetor overflow lines MUST be routed into a suitable catch container.
5. Lights and turn signal indicators should be removed; tape over headlamp ok.
6. peg sliders are required
7. front and rear axle sliders are required
8. No kickstands (mini or big bike)
9. Handguards (with sliders) are highly recommended for all bikes.

Saturday 6/27 will be a typical trackday.

Sunday is the races.

Typical sunday schedules are:
7:30-8:30 sign up and tech
8:45 riders meeting
9-11am practice (2 per group)
11:30 heat races
2pm mains

Prices are minimal! 60/30/10

$60 for main class
$30 for second class
$10 for that final class if you so dare

So for 100 dollars, you're on the track 9 times!

Who's in?

I might be there Sunday for racing, depending on how well Saturday goes with chores and family.

When do you want to get your parts? How can we coordinate? Will you want to be racing this weekend? Oh, I'll be at the track Tuesday, if you want to come down and play.

Call me about your parts. I have tomorrow (Wednesday) off and can help install. Bring your bike and everything else to work with you (if you dare) and I will hook you up. Call me.

Unfortunately it also requires a bunch of stupid plastic sliders, which I neither have nor have time to fabricate. Otherwise, I would be there on Saturday. Oh well, I'll get there someday.

A plastic kitchen cutting board, cutoff wheel, drill, some safety wire, 20 minutes of your time and you got peg sliders. Some threaded rod, bolts and washers, skateboard wheels and 10 minutes of your time and you got axle sliders. Some T hose connectors, plastic bottles and zip-ties and you got radiator/carb/crankcase breather catch cans. For handlebar sliders it depends on what you got for handguards. I just put some thick hose on my Moose guards and called it good but that definitely can be improved on.

For anyone on the fence if you show up and show at least some effort there's very likely be enough people and parts to help you out and get your bike ready.

Looks like I'm out and be tearing down the motor over the weekend.

Google says 82 feet. Round it up to 100 to be safe, you know, because that 18 feet will make a difference. Wait, it's in a trench that's on a hill, so you are on your own. Bring two plugs.

Takes surprisingly little. Dirt bike, safety wire, catch cans, sliders, wheels, brakes. That's it. Do it!

Oh I know what it takes to build one... I would just need to sell my gixxer first that's all.

It was great to see Darren, Mike, Ron and a lot of other folks out there today at the SM event at PR. It was even more cool to see all of them out there riding their arses off. Pretty cool, personally, the dirt section scurred the shit out of me, but pretty cool none the less. Good luck to all tomorrow...

Cheers

That track is so fun it should be illegal. Anyone on the fence, come over to the races tomorrow and I'm sure you'll be convinced.

PS: have to also mention the track is awesome for spectating, you can see all the action from the top or go into the pits and watch from the side, and the dirt section is right there by the track entrance. PGP rocks!

Hey Corey, nice seein you guys out there. THanks for letting me try out your camera. Supermoto guys, this camera is the one to have, has a strap for your goggles. so theres no mounting hardware or velcro needed!

Corey, you didnt edit out the pit section or my warmup lap! Fastforward to 2:30 plz.

Todays races looked like a blast, and a good turn out
Thanks again!

Do you have any aversion to practicing Tuesday AM? I need some pointers and an extra set of eyes so that I can get more confident in the dirt. When I get my video uploaded (3 hours to upload?!?) you all will get to see some, well, creative approaches to hitting the whoops. And I mean "whoops!" I have a standing ultra super important meeting Tuesdays at 7 AM, but after that I can usually sneak out and play until 2. Or 1, whatever the cutoff time is for half day practice.

I'm beginning to think magnetos don't exist, but if one ever turns up, my slow butt will be out trying to make sense of how a moldy Husqvarna works. Since I'm now self-unemployed, a Tuesday would work fine, especially if it's cheap.

Tuesdays Am is difficult, since I have to burn a vacation day to do it (the office is in bellevue and just commuting to pgp takea bout 40 min).

I may be able to make time on a mid week afternoon though (thursday?)

$40 for a half day, plus either a) $25 daily license or b) $75 annual Competition license.

Give me a week or two to get past my last couple of vacation days and we can figure something out. Probably the earliest I could break away would be the 21st of July, maybe you'll have a magneto by then? Why not just use a battery? That bike cannot use that much power over a 20 minute duration.

I have to pick up my daughter from daycare Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday in North Seattle so those afternoons are not so good. I might be able to pull off a 1-4 Wednesday, but like I posted above I need to get back into the good graces of my boss to get a half day off. I'll drop you a note if something comes available.

Of course I want to hear them. Unless you are going to make me slower so that I'm not a threat to the fast guys, but how am I going to know? I already know that I need to go much, much faster through the dirt and I need different/better tires for the asphalt. I was using DOT takeoffs, just to see how they worked. Not as good as SM tires, that's for sure. But, fire away. I am always willing to listen to constructive advice.

Edit: Where can I find the online schedule to confirm with the paper one I got in the mail yeaterday? I notice that the dates have changed for the August round at PGP, or is that a typo?

I need to update our site with that new date in aug. It got swapped around on us (grrrr).

It's easier to explain in person, but that last corner set before the straight (northwest corners)... you are turning right when you can go pretty much straight over the curb to skip that motion.

then you need to finish the left a bit more (stay down in the camber) to be able to get on the gas while you are turning right for the straight. If you can do that, I think you will be going about 10mph faster on the straight.

In the northeast corners, I can hear you coast in the chicane, then moderate throttle in that huge sweeper. You need to be driving the front tire into the ground by being deeper on the throttle. Traction is not a problem there and your line it a little too wide. It was one place on the 250 that I could make good time on the 450s by having the corner speed.

That make sense?
