10W oil in a 07 gixxer 750 shock ?
My cheap azz is changing the shock oil in my shock finally.

I was just wondering if anyone had run 10W instread of 5 Wt in the stock gixxer shock to help with the lack of rebound issue?

(Since I am too poor to revalve right now)

TIA, Zach

Isn't there Nitrogen in there also?? I think running a shock w/o will damage it. Not sure about the oil, but you could ask GP suspension and I am sure they could point you in the right direction.

Yeah, as far as I know shocks are not easily serviceable. They are charged to 250 - 300 psi internally.. if you manage to get it open you will get a BIG surprise. Are you perhaps thinking of your front forks instead?

I just assumed you would understand I was having it recharged.

Zack, dont to the 10w. It throws off the tuning of the shock, and will have a more noticable fade.

In fact, it is even better if you use a shock specific oil of the correct weight, preferrably full synthetic (Motorex, Amsoil, Race Tech, etc.)

I am using Motorex, I guess I will stay 5wt. Barry at GP did tell me to go from 5 wt to 10wt on the CBR forks when I put the stiffer springs in, I was just wondering if you could go thicker with the shock.

I will call GP a guy named Troy that works there did a great write up on changing shock oil on gixxer.com. Here is the Link, check out he pics Boys and Girls

BTW guys, you just release the N2O from the res with the shrader valve, it is nothing dramatic, then after you service the shock and bleed it and put in new seals, etc.. you then take it to a local bike shop and they charge it with N2O for about $10

It's not black magic, You Can Do it!

I learned from watching a Race tech info vid. years ago.

As far as I know, they use pure Nitrogen. Nothing "funny" about that...
