First, let me say that I find all this to be quite entertaining...

Unfortunately I am working on the farm until the end of July so I can't get to any track this weekend. I really have nothing to prove and I get the sense that many of you are taking this post to imply that my ego is the size of a small building. That's really not where I'm coming from!

Shortly after getting this bike and doing a couple of rides I went out with a friend who has quite a bit of roadracing expireience. We were on roads that he was familliar with but I was not and we both rode lead for half the day. His only track day experience has been with MotoCorsa and at the end of the day he told me that I would be able to ride in their "Advanced" group with no problems. Not the fastest guy of course but definately not the slowest. That is my ONLY reference point as to how fast or what group I might fall into and so IF I'm capable (and IF the rules allow) I wanted to be prepared to ride in the A group JUST IN CASE!!! This is not about braging! If I'm riding my ass off in B group and that's all I can do, fine... But I don't want to be dodging slower traffic any more than the rest of you.

As for NESBA's policy about Motards I would simply like clarification. This bike is NOTHING like a 450! I've watched some of the track day vids and there are many shots of the smaller motards off line and droning at much lower speeds on the straights. That seems pretty dangerous to me too. But with 100 hp this KTM is a little different animal....

Again, all I can say is "we'll see". I'm fine with what ever happens.

In my mind this bike isn't a motard. Again, that rule if mainly for the 450's that will only go about 100mph.

We look forward to having you come out!

Should be fun.

Mikey, I honestly wasn't throwing any sort of e-gauntlet. Just maybe teasing a little bit and giving out some free nesba advertising.

I like the e-gauntlet idea....Nothing wrong with a little teasing either.

And Lee, your right, I am the weak link in this equation.

So you have a nice warm fuzzy about your Corsa 3 choice. This is at Thunder Hill on Corsa 3's with at least 1k street mi. and a track day or 2 on them. They work well.

Enjoy your first day on the track!

Great pic! I especially like the blue smoke off the puck!

I'm hearing nothing but good things about the Corsa III's and looking forward to makin' them work.

Thread resurrection

Just so we all have closure on this.

I had a fantastic time even with 107 degrees on Sat. That track is a blast. I was bumped to intermediate after my second session and tried to be one of the first guys out so I could have a clear track with one CR in front of me. On average we were getting 4 laps before running into the backmarkers and at one point the CR pulled me into the pregrid area during our session just to let me out in front with no traffic. I wasn't aware of being timed untill the second day was over and was told I was running consistant 2:02's. I got lots of thumbs from the CR's and had I preped the bike I'm certain I would have been able to move into "A" since I was in the faster group in "I". My reason for wanting to move up was the traffic and saftey issues already expressed here.

So, to those that thought I was being unrealistic or egotistical

I don't like slower traffic any more than the rest of you!

To the rest of you, thanks for the help and advise and thanks for a GREAT time!!!!

Sorry, I'm not letting you into A until you get a gas gauge.

Nice to meet you out there yesterday.

Touché Nico!
That problem has been resolved though....FILL BEFORE SESSION!!!!

Pure rookie mistake and will NEVER happen again

Seriously though, did you NESBA boys see what you needed to see and would be cool with me in A on that track?

It was good to meet you too and thanks for the rescue!

Are you going to come out to a Pacific day anytime soon? 2:02s at ORP is pretty good. It would probably put you pretty close to 1:40ish times at Pacific.

I have logistical issues with Pacific right now and am a little more concerned about the closing speed issue but any time I can get on the track I'ma thinkin' I'ma wantin to.

I'm a little torn now about keeping the KTM though... If I can get to more track days it would be nice to have an actual track bike. Swaping tires and getting the sticky goo off the plastic is a real pain.

I'm just another addict now...
