This battery saves an honest 10 lbs over your stock battery (these are not just manufacturer claims, many zx14 members have confirmed the weight savings). The speedcell superbike (2 row) weighs in at a paltry 1lb 7ozs. The batteries are about $250. More info here One vender said this about the longevity. 1000 charge to dead cycles. They handle total discharge much better than lead acid. In fact they were designed for this initially. AMA superbikes on the factory yamaha and ducati team are using total loss systems, with the Speedcell batteries. No alternators, no trickle chargers, these things like 20-50 amp charge for 15 to 20 min full charge. This battery will more likely then not outlast your bike. Here is a video proving they start high compression bikes just fine. The 3 rows can also be had for a little more, and they can turn over higher then stock compression bikes. |

| Endorsed Joined: Jan 2007 From: Beaverton, OR | I've been running one on my 600RR race bike for a while....at first I had the supersport battery (smallest one), but it didn't have the capacity to allow the bike to warm-up at idle in the colder weather earlier this year. I switched to the superbike battery and haven't had any problems since. |

Imagine saving five pounds on a bike that weighs less than 300. |

They are excellent and weight savings is worth the switch. I'll be doing the deed soon. You can make your own very easily buy buying a 36v DeWalt battery pack or going to your local hobby supply store and buying the cells from them. Take apart the pack and you will find 8 cells I believe. Create a four cell pack then wired it up (you'll have to do some research to see how to wire them). Bingo you have a "Speedcell" for about $90.00. Speedcells or other brands of this type of battery sold through bike shops/suppliers have been marked up to an inch of their life. Us cheap bastard Ducati owners are good for something: http://www.ducati.ms/forums/showthread.php?t=51537 Last edited by magista; 07-19-2009 at 08:46 AM.. |
