High End Racing Could Be Future For Jackson County E-mail Print PDF (7/8/09) A master plan for a road course located at the Jackson County’s Sports Park is now being developed. The course would be similar in design to Infineon Raceway in California. Jackson County Commissioners have expressed interest that they would like to see the raceway at the sports park in White City. Recently commissioners approved a nearly 200-thousand dollar contract to create a master plan for the racing course. John Skinner, the man who is responsible for oval track racing at the park was originally hesitant to endorse the new proposal but has since changed his mind because it could be a good investment. "If you had a really nice road course here, if you could draw in big events like NASCAR or Indy car racing. It would bring a huge amount of people which would benefit the whole valley as far as people coming here.” The sports park currently has a drag strip, a go-kart track, and an oval dirt track on approximately 200 acres owned by Jackson County. |
