But I think a big part of my enjoyment was because of the competition Ben brought to the series. It would have been considerably more boring with a couple Ducs up front every single race. I'm stoked to see Toseland get the boot. I seriously hope neither he nor Vermeulen gets to take Spies' spot on the R1. Out with the old, in with the new - Crutchlow deserves the WSB spot more than they do. He might be a bit of a douche, but he can ride the wheels off that R6. I would actually love to see Hayes move over to WSB. |

GP is very strong and very young right now, i know he's motivated to win but am curious to see how he acclimates to the GP bikes. |

Stated Haga wouldnt crash out of his big lead and Ben skills couldnt overcome his lack of familiarity with the tracks, 1 helping crow. now I'll see if I have to eat second helping when/if Ben wins. |

| Superbiker Joined: Jul 2006 From: asian hill | the big question is, can that spies ego handle not winning? or not being on the podium? i'd be very stoked if he jumped right into GP and did very very very well, but the odds are certainly stacked against him. IMO can't expect a private or satellite bike to compete with full factory bikes at that level. Last edited by DRS; 09-17-2009 at 01:52 PM.. |

Crow is alright if seasoned well. Wont bet against the Texan again. Besides, I think the factory will make sure Bens ride is competitive. I Am sure He will beat the Honda duo on a regular basis. Screw Mini Me Pedrosa. Boys got a weak heart. Very very fast but no heart or racecraft like Rossi or Spies.

The concensus was he either should have moved up to MotoGP earlier (as he was developing) or waited a bit longer before making the move... |

Just to put the capper on that part of his career. Just to show it wasn't a fluke. He's got heart and he can (it would seem) develop a bike. Has gotten on a couple of unfamiliar bikes and done well. It's going to be an interesting year. That's for sure. |

Most WSBK guys struggle moving to GP because GP riding is much different than WSBK riding. WSBK is about point and shoot and not nearly as much about corner speed. MotoGP (especially since the move to 800cc machines) is more about corner speed and the guys with previous GP background (125/250/500) fair much better than the WSBK guys. Not to say it cannot be done just that odds are not in the favor. Ben is a good rider (even though I can stand the little prick, long story). He is dedicated and a good learner. The question is, can he develop the skills necessary to win on the GP style bikes. That said, his first year in, he isn't going to to dethrone Rossi. He will have a tough time beating Pedrosa and Lorenzo as well, as long as those two don't crash. That is the one thing that Spies has going for him, is he is pretty consistent and doesn't crash/hurt himself often. That doesn't even begin to touch on the fact that he is on a satellite bike and not a full factory ride. So I would say, Top 5 is possible, Top 3 is unlikely.
