Question Any track riders have the Kawasaki shim kit to adjust rear ride height?
Do any track riders have any extra shims from the Kawasaki shim kit to adjust rear ride height?

The same shim kit fits the 6R and 10R from the last several years.

The kit is $110 and I only needs 1-2 shims from the kit to make an adjustment. I dont mind paying for the shims - I would rather buy a couple shims than the entire kit if possible.

If you have any, please post up what thicknesses you have.

Thanks in advance.

Daniel, have you adjusted anything on the bike so far? Try it with the new tires before you make adjustments, or go more than what the oem rear ride height was. You may really like the way it handles when it is not the way it went out the showroom door.

You could probably get away with using 1/2" or 5/8" L9 washers. They are pretty consistant in thickness and are about 1/8 thick each. Since you are not planning to run on the track, those increments should be just fine.

Uh, if you have already made changes to what is best, ignore me.

Thanks for the advice. When I put new tires on my bike, the rear ride height will be adjusted and I need to compensate the ride height with some shims.

I did this on my last bike, and now I have to do it on my new one.

My bike comes stock with a rear tire of 190/55 and I'm switching to a 190/50 rear tire. The new rear tire reduces the rear ride height by 9mm. On my last bike, I raised the rear ride height by 10mm by adding one 5mm shim. I'd rather the rear ride height be +1mm instead of -9mm.

You may even prefer 5 mm or more. Another way to accomplish this is to slide the triple clamps down on the fork legs (some people call it sliding the forks up, but the forks aren't really moving at all), to get the chassis pitch back.

I lot of people prefer a rear high chassis attitude. Try it out and see if you like it.

One more thing, doesn't your bike have around a 3:1 linkage ratio? It seems like a 5mm shim would do more than 10 mm ride height change, but that is just me thinking out loud.

BTW, have you had any wrist or hand issues now that it's been a while? What is a good way to get over it if I am having rehab issues?

I've got a bunch of shims for Kawasaki. I've got several 1.5mm, 2mm, and 3mm sizes. I can bring them to the nesba day on the 28th if you'd like. I made these shims for my zx10 when I was making shims for Barry. I can also make a custom shim if it comes to that. I'll just give them to you. What bike do you have? And what year?

Who the hell quoted you $110 for a shim kit?

You sure that wasn't a full valve shim kit? A suspension shim kit is like $20 (and even that is a rip off, since they're nothing more than washers).
