Hey guys hope you can help me out here, so buying first suit and looking at alpine stars sizing chart the smallest size is for someone of height 5ft9in. I am 5ft7in height. I am guessing some people need suits tailored to size? and some don't. Could someone recommend a tailor in the seattle area? appreciate the help! |

| Race Qualifier | I personally haven't used Insurrection, but they're great people and support the community well. Another option is LeatherMaids in Kirkland. Myself and many others have used their service. Always done on time and never have any problems with the work performed. |

| Endorsed Joined: Oct 2010 From: Seattle I Ride: Slow at the track. | I have an Alpinestars Tech 1-R suit, size 50 euro that fits me well. I'm 5ft 6in and 160lb... At least for me, the extra length of the suit is in the legs so they just feed a bit farther into my boots. |

| Endorsed Joined: Oct 2010 From: Seattle I Ride: Slow at the track. | Skimmed this after writing it... Probably a lot of rambling on my part, but I'm too lazy to fix. Feel free to ask more specific questions in the thread or via pm. ------------------------ Now that the suit is properly broken in, I like it a lot. The pre-curve on the suit is rather aggressive. The first time I tried it on, I was unable to properly stand up. I have pretty large legs, and the section surrounding the knee was painfully tight the first few track days. Due to my height, the suit goes pretty deep into my boots as I stated earlier. This isn't a problem while riding, but if you are walking around it can force the knee armor to move around. This can get unpleasant as the day goes on. If you are a bit taller, I doubt it would be an issue. Besides the back, the built in armor is very impressive. I've yet to take a spill in this suit, but if I did I think my ego would be the worst off. I fit a KNOX Aegis back protector under the suit, albeit with some assistance from a friend. It is really snug, but I forget about it once I'm on the track. I purchased the perforated suit, and can not recommend it enough. You might not notice a difference when you're stuck waiting for a session to start, but once you get moving the wind flow is fantastic. I also chose white/black for the suit color. This also helps, but you either need to accept that it won't stay white, or clean it after every use. Lastly, I'm sure this is TMI... but it might help somebody else out when sizing. Suit I wear: A* Tech-1R (Euro 50, US 40) Me... 5'6, 160lb Collar: 16.5in Chest: 37in Waist: 32in Inside Leg: 32in |

| Licensed Joined: Jun 2010 From: Everett I Ride: 2006 GSX-R600 (track only) | I just dropped off my new A* sp-1 suit at Insurrection Racing over the weekend. I've never dealt with them before, but I talked with Carrie over the phone for a good 20 minutes on Friday and then talked with the lady in the Seattle store for another 20 when I actually dropped it off Saturday. Both were very helpful and friendly, and I'm very excited about getting the fit in the legs correct. I'll update when I get the suit back (hopefully my measurements were good!), but I'm sure it will be a positive experience. |
