| Chicken Strips Joined: Jan 2008 From: Shoreline I Ride: GasGas EC300, Concours, whatever else I can borrow | Fallen Racer Memorial ride In April of 2010 I lost a very good friend and mentor at Pacific Raceways. Three short months later WMRRA lost another member of our tribe in a tragic accident at Spokane Raceway. This is my simple way to honor their passing, by gathering donations to support the replacement and repair of Air Fence units owned by the Washington Motorcycle Road Race Association. Would Air Fence have prevented their passing? I don’t know, but it is my goal to help prevent any other losses in any way I can. We are having a short-notice ride to support the WMRRA Air Fence fund. Sunday June 10th at 8 AM, leaving from Snohomish, WA. We will ride Highway 9 to the Highway 20 loop and end up at Mt Erie on Fidalgo Island. The ride will be legal, legit, and mellow. We won’t stop you from doing something stupid, but if you get caught it’s your butt in a sling. Here are the fine details- Cost- $20 per entrant, breakfast is being negotiated as this point. Worst case we find a greasy spoon on the route or hand out coffee and bran muffins for sport. Each paying participant is entered into a raffle, prizes TBA. At least one really cool prize for you track junkies will be on offer. All proceeds from the entrance fee will go to the Air Fence fund. Each rider is encouraged to gather pledges per mile for donation to the Air Fence fund. Ideas are: $0.10 per mile, a penny per mile, $100 per mile, a flat donation, or whatever you can scrape together and coerce your family and friends to donate. Whereas WMRRA is technically a “non-profit” organization, donations are not tax deductible. However, paying into the fund will provide a level of karmic balance to the universe and you will get your just rewards at a future time. Please let me know via email, PM, smoke signal, or posting in this thread if you want to participate. Every type, style, and ability level of rider and bike is encouraged to participate and will be welcomed warmly. Thanks for your help and attention to this ride. Tell your friends, family, and anyone who will listen. I posted this notice in the track section to get attention of racers, but don't be shy to spread this around to anyone and everywhere that you can. The more the merrier. |

| Endorsed ![]() Joined: Apr 2007 From: Seattle, WA | Phil, I fall into the "taped up my headlights and never looked back" category as well. No more street riding for this hombre, but I sure believe in the benefits of Airfence as do all the local track day riders (or they should). 2Fast has an event on 6/6 at Pacific and an event at the Ridge on 6/9. If you like, I can approach Mark about making an announcement at the riders meetings at both events promoting the ride. We can also collect donations in lieu of actually attending the event. I'll be the first to chip in. |

Thanks to you all who have contacted me to donate, but I'm still looking for riders to join me for the ride. |

Mongos Clearview 16510 State Route 9, Snohomish 98296. Time TBD, (probably around 8-9 AM) He can seat 20 riders, but I am nowhere near that number yet. Let's get this group growing. Tell your friends, neighbors, anyone. I am terrible at promoting anything, so if anyone has ideas/tips, I am all ears (eyes?). |

Details here. If anyone else wants to join in, come along for the ride. I don't have a breakfast menu yet, but I can't imagine it to be anything less than memorable. |

My original goal was to get racers and trackday people involved as they are direct beneficiaries of air fence, but I guess it couldn't hurt to get some more exposure. Thanks for the tip! |

| Chicken Strips Joined: Jan 2008 From: Shoreline I Ride: GasGas EC300, Concours, whatever else I can borrow | News flash! Rear shock needed for Concours! I need a shock for a Concours C10 (1988 if you're counting) or a stock ZZR1200 shock with OEM lower bushing. I just noticed a puddle of oil on the shop floor that is apparently emanating from the shock absorber. Any help is appreciated. I want to get the shock installed for the ride this Sunday. If you have one in the Seattle Metro area, I'll come and get it. If you are outside of Seattle, I'll still take it if you can ship it post haste. Your immediate attention to this matter is greatly appreciated! Phil |
