| Licensed Joined: Aug 2008 From: victoria I Ride: '04 R6 | Thanks Gents! That makes me feel much better about them. One less thing to worry about considering I've only got 2.1 track days ever at the Ridge, this bike was bought yesterday and it's an ebay special hodge podge '05 GSXR frankenbike with stock suspension so I'll likely have much better (worse?) things to be worrying about than tires. I'm gonna run my warmers with them for peace of mind but I'll heed your advice and just give them a 20 minute blast on low prior to each session. Donny - looking forward to seeing you again as well buddy! And all the other 2-Fast Hooligans like Stevie, Tim, and Rob of course! |

For the record, I'm pretty certain Donny is a straight individual, not that it matters of course. | |

| Licensed Joined: Aug 2005 From: Spokane I Ride: Yamaha FZ1, 08 gsxr 1000 trackbike | Tire warmers, out lap Well, After running Q2's for 2 years on my FZ1 and running hard from start to finish, and having my first crash at the track in 10 years at the Ridge---I would warm them up for one lap, or consider the tire warmers, I biffed it in the turn right after the carousel going down the hill into a right hand turn. Totally online, no feeling of anything ominous, running in 2nd in the A group out lap, and next thing I know, on the ground bouncing. Track control riders, one expert race school rider who saw me biff it----all think cold tires were the culprit. So, it all depends, if you get fast enough, an out lap can send you to ER, even on the fast heating Q2's. I personally don't feel like going to the ER or busting a thumb and a rib to find out again.
