lol I know. Tell Ariana thanks for putting me at the front of the novice pack (#800). That may be the only time I'm at the front but I'll take it.

I will. Now remember to pre-register early and do it for the entire season (even if you are on the fence for coming that weekend). That way you have a chance to always be in the first wave during the races...heck if you do it early enough you could be on the front row the entire time.

I didn't want the lowest # possible. #20 was my 3rd choice.

Plus that's the only time Chris is gonna see a #1 on his plate.

If you are running under 2:00's you have no worries about being last. Fast people know how to get around slow people...just ask Nico what he does when he see's me (and Nico the wobbleing is on purpose ).

But there IS someone who puts around on the track doing 2:10's and doesn't hang off the bike or anything. It's funny because I see this person at trackdays in the beginner group but they think they are gonna graduate novice?

I was disappointed to see "Minimum laptime requirements" for Novice Graduation get shot down. It makes for less exciting racing when the front runners hafta lap people 8 @ a time in the bus stop. Less exiting in terms of "fast", not less exciting in terms of "hairy"

You know I saw Luke do that to someone right in front of the stands at a race last year. Funny part was I was talking to the wife of the guy who got the tap. It was damn funny!

I know one person you are talking about but I know you have seen Colin's race video....remember the dude on the CBR600RR that Colin passed on the outside of 5 right at the apex? He's scarier to come around than the person you are talking about.

Yeah, I think Colin lapped them both on his 3rd lap. As for me, I'll be happy with being one of the top 5 fastest in novice. Last year that meant high 36's. With my new setup and all the training I've been doing (both power and endurance cardio + lifting) that's a totally reasonable goal.

Doesn't matter how long you wait. At some point we all get refered to by those names.

If you don't start racing this year, you'll only be one year older when you do.

People said that to me last year. But I benefited more from doing a crapload of trackday testing instead of just getting out there and racing. By the time I finished my last trackday of the 2006 season my times were mid-pack novice and that was with a cold (i.e. no coordination). Money well spent.

Based on the couple of people I've spoken too who are novices this year it means less than :35's. There is going to be a guy out there who runs :32's at track days...in a race...he might be faster.

Well I went from a solid 1:55 rider to a 1:42 rider due to racing. Not as much of an improvement as Nico but still notable.

That's freakin' awesome! The more fast people I have to chase the better!

BTW, how did last season stack up? Was it a "slower" novice group than average?

I dont think it was any slower than the year before really.

The top 5 Novices were all in the 36's with a couple of touches to the 35's during Novice.

This year will definately have some fast Novices in it. However, making your way through 60+ bikes is gonna take its toll on their times too.

What's his story? In the vid, Colin passed him like he wasn't moving.

This year will definately have some fast Novices in it. However, making your way through 60+ bikes is gonna take its toll on their times too.
So who is it that's bringing the 32's?

If I recall correctly he hadn't ever been on the track before and I think that was basically his first time.

He's a nice guy, just not remotely quick. But he's working on it.

Mike MacConaghy. Brian isn't slow either turning 35's. However, it will likely be hard to turn those sorts of times with the amount of traffic out there.
