I wish I could be there to hear some of the questions. Lasts years classic question.

"At what point do you know you've run out of traction?"

The guy was serious too...

Yeah that was a funny line of questions....funny right until the point you realized you'll be on the same track and grid as him.

Nope. As soon as we're out of T1 they're mine! I LOVE passing literbikes on my 636. A big grid w/ lots of literbikes bogging their engines 'cause they don't know how to pass people means more passing for me.

Or the guy (to remain nameless...) that asked "what if I'm really fast right away, can I get out of novice?"

eeek, we all rolled our eyes at that one....

You'll probably get that question again this year.

yeah your right...

Some of these guys crack me up, but they usually come around pretty quick.

Its pretty humbling when Mike or Eli go by you with the throttle pinned and your standing on the brakes.....

That very thing happened to me my novice year... Mike, Eli, Ross and KC all went by, on both sides into the braking zone of T3 pinned and I was already on the brakes...of course I already knew I was slow, but was still amazed at the speed those guys carrried. It inspired me.

I look forward to working with the new guys and gals. sure there are some dorks who actually think they are fast... But most are just nice people who want to learn how to ride better and have some fun.

Similar thing happened to me last year as the row of SVs steamrolls me. I'm the guy on the black Hurricane in early lightweight gp that you guys on the SVs blow past at the Spokane rounds. My favorite was turn 6, when I had SVs on both sides of me in the slowest corner of the track. I don't think I held anyone up though.

I promise, I'll go faster this year.

Well if it was Allister, he would just hit you if you're in the way in T6. Just ask Jake.

I kid, I kid Allister. Don't punt me in 750.

Don't worry...I'll give you a race in the back of the class with my SV.

Three goals for novice season in priority order....

Have a shit load of fun.
Don't completely bankrupt myself
Don't be last. (I'm just too competitive for that and it is racing right?)

Thanks Allistar for recognizing the "gals" of the group. Looks like it's just me and Jenny, but we'd like to be acknowledged as serious racers as well. And I'm totally about learning and having fun in the process! All this SV talk is getting me excited!! I hope there are more SV's in novice then just me. I want to have a race with THEM, not the liter bikes.

It's more fun to pass the liter bikes.

This I know, but still frustrating when they pass you right back on the straight, and you have to do it all over again.

This you all probably know already, just a word to all the new folk hitting the track this season (pardon the expression). The best thing to do while getting passed by faster machines is to hold your line. I'm sure you'll all do quite well.

Yeah, you've made your point, it sounds like pretty obvious stuff. When your out there and you think your putting your grove down and your doing.....oh.....close to 100mph through turn one (or maybe your already up to full lock throttle by now?) and some one comes by you with inches between you doing 60-80mph faster and scares you stupid.....talk to me then.

The class was real good. I don't remember any stupid questions being asked. It looks like 75% or so of the novices are on 600's and only a few on 1000's.

I'm pretty sure he was being facetious about the "hold your line" statement I made, at least I hope he was............that seems to be the norm from these threads.

You had me for a second.

You gonna come visit us this year? Maybe try out Pacific Raceway and Portland International?

I'm glad to see you gals there!!!!

Good luck and have fun.

Racing is racing, male or female. But, if you want some perspective from a female racer, please talk to Wendy. She is very smart, very good, very fast and probably the fastest chick in the west (seriously!!!)

Maybe this is a stupid question, but are there gonna be bikes going 100mph in T1??? Cuz I'm on an SV and I believe I'm going 130 pinned still.... Soo who's going 100? That is why novice is scary.

She's my hero. I sought her out last year at AF and she led me around the track, as well as with the Sully school. I fully intend on learning everything and anything from her this year as well. She suggested I race too (even though the thought had already been brewing). I just wish there were more females out there. At least I brought Jenny with me this year!

Yeah Geoff I was talking about Revhard, he was all gungho about racing. But since he missed the class guess he will have to wait till next year.

I am planning on making the first race in Seattle!! Hope it isn't raining!!! I am WMRRA #697, and WERA #997 now!!

If anyone's on a Ninja 250 again, then yeah, someone will be going only 100 thru T1.

No, it's not a stupid question, unfortunately, new riders to the track get a little unnerved at going wide-open through a semi-blind turn. That's awesome that your going through pinned, that's the way to do it. So be very careful when going in behind someone who's new, you never know what might take place. Turn 8 is another bad place where newbies will roll way off.
