Yep. It's a lot of fun watching novice run in a hailstorm. I'm going to be a radio guy, so at least I won't hafta pick up all the bikes

Yea but I think I need to complete the NRC portion.... ugg, maybe I zooned during the 7 hour class about this stuff. And on another note, I've also taken both the 2 Fast class and Sully's school twice, sooooo maybe I should get my novice license already? Anyone know?

Contact the folks at Sully's school and ask them to mail you your certificate. That, plus the school last saturday, will get you your license.

What is the upside of getting your license sooner rather then later?? That's why I haven't done anything, since I didn't see the difference.

1 -- Cost. If you've already taken the proper track school, you don't need to pay $100 for the NRC school.

2 -- Delay. If you already have your Novice licence, you begin racing first thing rather than having to go through the NRC laps and learning to grid up.

This is just my perspective.

Ahh, well I think I already paid it, and I'd still like to learn how to grid since they never went over that at the school. It's all a learning experience, and there is always more to learn!

For you NRC people, no. You'll be given a chance to register once you get your license. Last year Shellie stayed late on Saturday and allowed us to register for Sunday's heat for those who got their novice license (ie stayed up and didn't crash [which was all of us I believe]). This year I've spoken to my wife Ariana about this and I believe she's gonna do the same thing. She has no where else to go but walk 30 feet to the motorhome for the evening anyhow.

I have a similar plan, but I think I will ride on April 1. I should be doing corner work on 3/31

Yeah, everything except the engine & chassis is different on my bike since i last rode it. Doubt I'll have it set up in time for 4/1, but we'll see. Anyway, are you racing SRP Memorial Day weekend? I'll be out there with ya then.

I'll wait a week or so before I register. let the fast guys get registered so I'm not surrounded by people going 5s faster than me.

Somehow I don't believe you. I thought that was something only I would do.... aren't you guys gung ho about winning the race once your number drops from the 800 list?

Might want to shorten up that time a little bit...there are a metric ton of registrations coming in. You should see the pile of papers on Ariana's desk.

Yes, but I'm also a realist. I turn 35's/36's in 750. The fast guys are 27's-30's. Winning a race is a bit out for me still. So until then, I'll politely wait and not get in anyone's way.

don't worry they'll get around you but you know that. Last Sully started in the back row and finished the race something like 3rd. He said being back there sure was an eye opener and kinda scary. This is Mike saying that...glad I'm not the only one going in the middle of that pack (well ok the tail end of the middle of the pack)

How many people do you think there will be in 750SS. Trying to decide if I want to run my 6 in that class on Saturday!

I know they know how to get around me but if I can avoid it being an issue, I will. Its not important for me to be up front right now.

Half the grid is typically 600 bikes.

There will be about 40-50 bikes in 750SS.

Hey Nico, I'll be running my 600 in 7SS. I'll let you in on a little secret....be on the outside if all possible, when going through turn one and everyone bunches up to the inside, let it go wide around 'em all.....sure it's bumpy out there and you might even get a little tank slap but that's okay, keep it pinned and head right up the inside line to 2, you will pass a TON of people. Don't forget to pump your brake lever at least once if you tank slap. I'll see YOU, on the grid!!!

Yeah, I know Ced, I've known him since way back when. The Dude's actually kind of famous. He and I both raced the 750 Suzuki series back in the day when Polen was doing it. He's still racing his frankenstein bike, I think only in Portland, he may be doing WMRRA, I'm not sure. What of it?

Oh yeah, he's doing quite good. He looks different......remember those long flowing curly locks of his? Ced is bald as a cue ball!!! He's still the same 'ol boy though, we had a pretty good time when we sat together at the '05 OMRRA awards banquet. You know, he was in a couple of motorcycle magazines for the GSX-R 750 twin he made, yep, lopped off the outside cylinders of a 750 and made it an in-line twin. It was pretty cool. He's racing some little tiny thing he made now, he actually lifts it up on the lift himself. It's small but man can he fly on that thing!!! Come out to the track one race and say hey to him.
